Epic Quest Pinball FX2 Table

by Brent Roberts

What is the proper mix of ingredients to create a fun and interactive experiences that will drain hours upon hours out of your day and replace it with non-stop enjoyment and entertainment?  To answer that question we need to look no further than Zen Studio's Epic Quest table for Pinball FX2.  Combine a light hearted and humorous experience with actual RPG elements and a pinch or two of fast paced pinball action and you have one incredibly enjoyable experience in Epic Quest.  With some amazing new innovations Zen Studios has undoubtedly struck gold in the pinball world again so let's plunk our quarter in and pray we don't go on tilt as we explore the world that is Epic Quest.

For some reason when I hear the song Pinball Wizard by The Who, I always think that they are talking about Zen Studios.  Countless times they have challenged us, delighted us, frustrated us, and overwhelmed us, and this time is no different.  Epic Quest provides multiple quests and challenges to overcome, however, the inclusion of RPG elements really help bring this table to life.  Combating enemies with hit points, finding new armor and weapons with elemental and physical bonuses and more are all RPG aspects that are a wonderful new innovation to the pinball world.  One of the beautiful things about this though is once your game is over, if you stick around and play, your gear carries over so you don't feel like you're starting from the beginning.  This constant character upgrade system is a beautiful way to blend two worlds together that you think would never mesh.

The table layout itself is one of the easier tables to play in Pinball FX2.  Sure there are aspects that require nerves of steel and a steady bumper flick, but the table itself showcases a fairly straight forward collaboration of lanes, secondary areas, and skill shots that will leave you playing this game for hours.  While you notice the RPG elements and the layout of the table itself, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the detail and graphics of the table itself.  With wild and colorful areas wrapping the table such as your knight and horse, the straw hut, giant pigs, Puppet Theater and more, your eyes will feast on a wide variety of detail and beauty that cover every inch of the playing field.  This wonder is complimented beautifully with the sounds which provide more than the basic "ding-ding-ding" of pinball.  Humorous lines of dialogue throughout your adventures and battles stay fresh due to the overwhelming selection of different quests and enemies to combat.  This goes a long way as your ears will not get tired or bored of hearing the same line over and over again.

Overall, the Epic Quest table by Zen Studios blends a fun and beautiful pinball table with RPG elements, which are all done up with colorful graphics and entertaining sounds to ensure that you will receive hours upon hours of enjoyment.  The price for all this entertainment is a miniscule $2.50 and when you take into account the hours of fun you will have, this table is a must have.  Zen Studios knows how to give its gamers some of the best value for money out there and Epic Quest is another example of masterful pinball work at its finest.
