Morrowind ANSWERS
Hello, I've been reading non-stop about this game for the last week so I know quite a bit about it, well, as much as I can without having played it. I will try to answer any questions you all may have about it from what I've learned so far.

Let me tell you this. I am absolutely stoked to get this game. Ever since I was a kind I've dreamed about a game that could take me to another world, both visually and emotionally, I truely think that this is the first game of that calibur. At least, from the openendedness to the sheer magnitude of the game I think that Morrowind stands a solid chance of realizing that notion I had as a kid. Hopefully this game will be the beginning of many more to come.

Heres some random info to get you all hot and bothered.
>>>The game takes place entirely on the island, but not to fear, the island is Friggin Huge!

>>>4 classes to choose from

>>You choose your class either by taking a detailed questionaire of sorts, or you choose yourself.

>>>Upwards of 200 hrs of original gameplay (Probably more from what I'm hearing)

>>>True openendedness, if you don't like a quest, don't do it, go do whatever the hell you want to.

>>>The sky changes from day to dusk, to night to dawn. Sunrises, sunsets. The moon comes out at night (The moons I should say) There are dust storms, lightning and thunder storms that should rock your world on the xbox with 5.1.

>>>3,400 NPC's. Not including monsters and the such.

>>>Vampirism. Yes, you can become a vampire. Your appearance changes, you can only go out at night without taking a serious health risk, and you can only cure it once. So once you cure it, you can never go back. Choices, choices.

>>>Shipwrecks in the ocean.

>>>>>>>>>Release date: May 15th ships, should get it AT LEAST by the 17th. A Xbox rep. suggests you preorder it, as they may not have enough when it comes out. I find this reasonable because the PC version is selling so well that it is hyping up the XBOX version. The more preorders people make, the more the publishers think it will sell, and viola! More games will be shipped to meet the demand.

>>>The Xbox version will not have the level editor. Fine by me. Too much time anyways. But it will have however large of tv you have. And for those of us without supercomputers, the box is a pretty good choice. Most of the PC gamers who have this game are getting the box version as well because they just cant resist playing from the comfort of their couch with a badass soundsystem and a viewing area larger than the typical 15' to 17' inch screen.

>>>It is almost done testing with Microsoft quality assuance, so its almost gaurunteed that it will go gold in time for the May 15th shipping date.

I'll start with that.

Night all.

Thanks Englishguy, I also have been reading up on this game and I want to thank you for the information I didn't know.:)

Thanks EnglishGuy. I too am anxiously awaiting the release of this game. One question tho? What is the fourth class? I thought there were only three pre-made classes: fighters, magic-users, and thieves. As well as classes you create. Did I miss one?

Again, Thanks.

Dont sweat it Woo! (about the beginning)

Everyone who really wants the game already knows this. And most user made reviews (the ones i read) mentioned it too. Even the creators of the game mention it in there interviews.

Like I posted in response to the posting you made in the RPG forums, there are way more classes then 4, in fact you can make your own custom class and there are plenty of pre-made classes already set up for you to choose from if you don't want to make one. I'll try to find the class list from the morrowind site, but it runs like a dog lately!

Radar

ok, here are the predefined classes...

There are a 21 predefined classes. These are sorted by the area they specialise in e.g Combat, Magic or Stealth. For more information see the skills section.
Click on any of the hyperlinks below to find out more information.

Speciality Combat Magic Stealth
Class Name Archer Battlemage Acrobat
Barbarian Healer Agent
Crusader Mage Assassin
Knight Nightblade Bard
Rogue Sorceror Monk
Scout [Ranger] Spellsword Pilgrim
Warrior Witch Hunter Thief

If you do not like any of these classes then it's possible to design your own. It's all a matter of class really.

Xtruder: I don't believe this game is coming out untill late July/August for Euro. Sorry, that sucks.

Woo: Chill out, this game is HUGE i tell you, what I've mentioned will not spoil the game in the slightest.

Radar: Good info man!

>>>>Another little update, just went to EBgames, and it had the shipping date set as 5/20!!! Arg, that would tick me off. Lets hope it's still on course for a 5/15 shipping.

Later all.

If you count custom classes, you can literally make billions of unique classes each with its own set of major/minor skills...so the sky's the limit on classes in truth...

Englishguy
05-07-2002, 04:08 PM
Nope, shipping 5/20 now. A dude ordered from them and they sent him an email stating that the game has been delayed to work on some issues that they want to make sure get taken care of before it goes to the box. Kind of a smart move I guess considering its a one time deal on the box, unlike a PC where's theres patches to be had.

Could be a good thing, somebody in another thread said to think of it this way, "Thousands of PC gamers are beta-testing this game for the Xbox, the version we get will be the complete or better version." Or words to that effect. He may have a point.

Though come to think of it EB is almost ALWAYS wrong. They could just be doing this to make them look better when a game comes out EARLY. Scuzzbags.

Yo, i got this game for my comp and have been playing it for about 1-15 hours now and i feel like i have gotten NOWHERE, this game is bigger than any other game i have ever seen, the world in it is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo huge just wait till you see it, you HAVE to get this game it rox. Theres a ton of classes btw, and you can choose different races and your sign, which comes with certain powers. You can do ANYTHING you want absolutely anything, you can go into shops and kill the shop owner and take off all their clothes lol, then steal all of the stuff you want in the shop rather than pay for it, then go sell what you dont actually need at another shop. One drawback about this game is that its just toooo big, takes up too much time, and its addicting as hell. Make sure to pick this one up.

Woocifer
05-07-2002, 07:34 PM
It is huge...but its getting to be tedious now. Just to walk across town it takes like 3 minutes to talk to someone or to find something out. It's a pain in the ass sometimes.

I'm at a point where most houses want me to do something, but I can't because I'm just not developed enough...but in order to develop you have to do quests.

WTF....so yeah its cool, but its starting to rub off...just make sure you focus on one thing to do cuz as soon as you start spreading yourself around you get really stuck.

I wonder, if you go in a shop and no ones there and you steal something and no one sees you, are you branded a thief class can this change your outcome if your already a good guy. Not that there aren’t any good hearted thief’s mind you.

Woocifer, your having problems due to your obvious mental illness and retardation, also due to the fact that you prolly suck at the game. If you wanna move fast as hell, get the boots of blinding speed from the black lady on the side of the road near balmora.

and funky monk, heres how this stuff goes.

If you steal something and someone sees you, it will say crime reported and they will prolly try to attack you. You get fines for crimes, if you cant pay your fines, you can choose to go to jail or resist arrest, in the resisting arrest you end up having to fight the guard...which you will prolly lose against. If you go to jail you end up losing a LOT of stats.
If no one sees you, your same as always, just a regular citizen.

BTW woocifer, i've had like 5 missions going on at once lol, you can take as long as you like on them so you dont have to worry bout getting confused, if you do just read your journal and it'll update you.

Now if you go to jail are you actually in a cell sitting there till time passes and they let you out. Just curious to know how much attention went to detail.

I have Morrowind for the PC (i know, i know). If you get sent to jail, you don't sit around in a cell. The game automatically skips to the point when you are released, and decreases your stats depending on how long you were in jail.

Isn't that why we all bought xboxes? To escape? PS2 and other systems haven't helped me any. Well, I must admit GTA3 is, but Halo has done the same :) I look so forward to Morrowind, because I think that's the ultimate escape for all rpg fans :)

I played the PC version today at a friends house for about 40 minutes. It took me 10 minutes to create my character so I actually only played for 30 minutes. I wish I hadn't because now it is going to be harder to wait until it's release on the Xbox!

I agree completely. As I have said before, I feel this game may have more potential than Project Ego. Don't get me wrong, Project Ego looks awesome. The graphics look great. The aging system and the way your actions can affect the environment are very intriguing. But with over 200 hours of gameplay, I think it will take a very long time for morrowind to get old.

Morrowind will NEVER get old. It simply can't. I know people that still plays Elder scrolls 2: Daggerfall, and that's 6 years old.

Well, if you have a really slow character I could see how walking at a snails pace would get tiring. I think there are boots that make you go faster as well as riding stiltwalkers to get around quicker....That's all that would tire me out I think...

How do you raise your pickpocketing skills... I've been trying for a while now and I have to steal that key from that dink in his Manor but I just can't pickpocket properly...I'm at skill level 20 or something...I can't afford to go any higher....

Unfortunately, I can't answer your question (I don't have the game yet.) But you reminded me of something from the distant past...

Anyone remember Sierra's old Quest For Glory series? You could actually boost your lockpicking skills by picking your nose. :D Of course, you had to be careful if your skill was low or you would puncture your brain and die. Ah, the good ol' days...

I, too, am really EXCITED about this game! I even think I will buy it as soon as it comes out (I've never done that before). The graphics look amazing, and I can picture myself getting really wrapped up in it! And, I think playing it on xbox controllers will be easier than playing a RPG on the computer. I have never really had very much interest in RPGs before this one, but this one really caught my attention. I think the biggest problem I had with them in the past was that it was uncomfortable to play using the keyboard/mouse. Now that problem will be eliminated! Yippee!!!

Is it better to roam outside of towns and build up, or can you even do that?
I bought Spiderman on sight, because Costco never gets a game so soon after release. Usually, I read reviews and so forth, but I love spidey so much I dove right in. I love rpg games even more, so Elder Scrolls3: Morrowind has me overly anxious.
I'll buy that no matter what I read about it no matter where or how much I haft pay for it.

Early off in the game the "guides" recommend that you go around outside of the first town that you are in to practice your spells and blade skills....In this game you can do whatever you want. If you want to spend the first 30 hours and never go on a quest that is fine. I played for the first time last night on the computer and I didn't spend enough time hacking at stuff out in the swamps, so alas, I have to start over.

Do quests get harder the more hours you have into the game or something? Maybe you miss out on the easy quests because you waited too long? PLZ explain.

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply guys, I have been really swamped.

I had to restart because stupid me didn't save the game right after making my character so when I died I had to start over.

As far as the quests go they are all always there, this is a totally non-linear game, so you may be told about a quest early on that you aren't supposed to do (if you go off of the "main quest") Or if you are just roaming around you might stumble into a room where you don't belong. (This has happened to me many times)The good thing is that when a guild or one of the main story characters gives you a quest it is usually based on what you have completed so far.

Hope this helps guys.
