After connecting two XBOXes together, the system link becomes available as a selection, but the two systems are not communicating (e.g. they do not recognize each other, if a game is started and available to join). Is there a trick to getting these systems to 'talk' to each other?
Side note: My son recently attempted to use one of these XBOXes with the XBOXnetwork software. The above set-up was functioning before this attempt. Could this have damaged the XBOX in some way?
Thanks in advance

prob not but i would check the cable u r using cauz that sounds like the problem. . .
if your start a game on one Xbox all other Boxes connected should be able to see and join that game. . no special tricks required
i dont think the Xbox software has the power to mess up a LAN connection especially a Direct connect
btw was your son using XBconnect??

I tried some types of crossovers some work and some dont. The way to go is just go buy the system lnk cable. Start a game and when the waiting for another xbox screen pops up it should work otherwise I would call Microsoft and see if they can help.

Thanks folks. Believe it or not, it was the Halo software. I had purchased a new game and ahd never used it before. We borrowed a friends software and everything worked fine. Strange.
