Well we have had quite a few trivia threads (Simpsons, Halo) but I always thought a Video Game trivia thread would make sense. So I thought I would start one. Once you answer a question you must post a question of your own. It can be screenshots, box art, just plain text, quotes, anything. I will start.

What was the first game and what was it played on?(Be specific)

PONG (also known as TENNIS) It could be seen in different ways, be it around Magnavox, Atari, or the plethora of cheap systems that sold at the end of the 1970s.

Physicist Willy Higinbotham invents the first "video game" at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York. His game, a table tennis-like game, was played on an oscilloscope.

I am guessing you copied and pasted that but yes. But you still have not named the game. Then you will have answered it correctly. Once you name it you have to make another question.

Tennis for two.

Frink
05-18-2002, 09:01 AM
No to both of you. The telestar did play a version of pong though. The name of the game is Tennis for Two. It was played on the oscilloscope. People liked it so much that Willy Higinbotham made it so you could control the gravity so it would play different. The reason I couldn't accept Pong is because that they are 2 different games. Here is a screenshot:
http://www.emuunlim.com/doteaters/HiginPong.gif
See it is played from a side overhead view not straight overhead.

The new question (this one's easier): What was the first system with replacable cartridges?

Ha! I remembered some announcement about Sega and a Neptune thingy!

Okay, this one will probably be pretty easy. What system is "far more powerful than any current system" (from the N64 era), launched to practically no fanfare at all, and has an almost identical controller to the N64?

Snoopy7548
05-18-2002, 12:16 PM

The XBOX maybe

Snoopy7548
05-18-2002, 12:56 PM
it cant be the xbox, that wasnt released in the n64-era, and the controller is nothing like the n64 controller

mercsix
05-18-2002, 01:00 PM
Just grasping at straws.

RadRider
05-18-2002, 01:02 PM
Fine. They had a demo running which spit rotating cubes at the screen. On each face of the cubes was a running demo of Doom. And the controller practically was the N64 controller.

RadRider

it's title started with an "n". It was slated to take over the video games industry, except the developers kept the thing pretty tightly under wraps at every trade show, so nobody ever had the chance to get hyped for it.
OXM mentioned it once. "It continues to rule the videogame world, only in total secrecy" At least I think it was OXM that had that.
