Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance officially announced for Xbox

Interplay will bring its excellent PlayStation 2 action game to the Xbox.

Though it's been known for quite some time, Interplay has officially announced that Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is in development for the Xbox. The game is set in the popular Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realm campaign and was released earlier this year for the PlayStation 2. The game is a third-person action game that blends action with character development. Players will be able to choose from one of three archetypal characters--a magic user, a warrior, and a dwarf--and play through the game alone or cooperatively with a friend. As they progress through the game they will earn experience and be able to increase specific attributes in their character.
Look for more on this game next week from E3.

Has anyone played this on the PS2? I loved BG on the PC but I heard the PS2 version was similar in name only.

If the game is fun this is one port I might actually consider buying. Interplay generally does a good job.
