I am very careful with my Xbox. When I have my friend's over to play, i make them wash their hands before i let them touch my controllers. And when i get a haircut or shave, I take a shower directly afterwards just so i don't get soap, hair or dirt inside the drive. Maybe i'm going overboard heh???

I also wanted to add that I also have a cd cleaner for when i trade games . Also, when i buy new games and the OXM, I'll still clean them off B/C the paper shreads from the instructions gets on the disk. My girl really thinks i'm a freak about it. I think I love my Xbox more than her!!!hehehe

I could not have said it better. I do the exact same things. Especially with the hand washing, and especially after they go to the bathroom, I make sure they washed their hands. I dust it off every day also.

this thread has made me feel ALOT better...

i thought i was the only one who made people wash their hands before playing.... and dusting the machine off once or twice a week :)

the reason i do it is cause i've read alot of horror stories about controllers breaking and dust getting into the DVD drive preventing DVD's from being read...

so... better safe then sorry...

I bought 3 boxes so I could try to juggle them. If I think it is overheating I spray it with a garden hose to cool it down. I think a thick layer of dirt grime and mud over the top of it will protect it from scratches. And I also like to use my controller as a toy when I play fetch with the dog.

I treat mine great, real careful ya know. But I have more than one friend that truely demo the toughness of the Xbox. They carry it over here in a old gym-bag and toss it around and all. They through the troller when they get mad (alot). They are brutal to it. But it works like a charm....thanks MS

I always wrap up my controllers after I'm finished with them..roll up the cords, to be specific. Also, I won a NAKI USA carrying case from this amazing website and I play my XBox while it's inside the case (it opens up giving it breathing room, etc...it's cool, check one out if you haven't). When I'm done, I close it all up so there is no possible way for dust to get it.

My XBox still looks like it's brand spankin' new!

U could wrap your controllers in saran wrap. Hey that's an idea, plastic custom fit covers for your controllers. I should patent that. I'll call them Controller Condoms for safe care-free gaming.

I generally let my friends keep their drinks on my xbox, it's my passive cooling system.

i dont take care of my xbox. when i got it and brought it home, i just threw the box on the ground. it didnt seem to break. it still works fine though. also, whenever i lose in a game, i throw down the controller and sometimes punch my xbox. the game usually freezes for like 2 seconds when i punch it, but its fine after that.

I'm always MAKING my friends wash their hands before touchin my controllers. As for my cd's, i'm not as careful. Lately Halo has been dirty, and it is really annoying, especially when your about to play on gamespy/XBConnect. Should i get a 'cd washing kit' to clean it?

I make people crawl past my entertainment center because the footsteps vibrations might knock the xboxs laser off. no drinks allowed withing a 10 ft. radius of my box. If someone is speaking to me while playing the box and there spit gets on my controller they get 15 min time out in the "dark room". Other then that it is pretty normal around here!

washing your hands everytime someone plays is a bit anal. I will ask them to wipe there hands off if we just finished a greasy meal, but most my friends have the common sense to wipe there hands off before touching a controller anyways.

wow, all u guys have seriuos problems.. lol j/k

im sorta like that too. i amke sure all my freinds washed their dang hands after whackin off, eating, sneazing or wiping their ass to keep my controllers free of germs and dust. and i make sure that they dont throw the controlers after being mad for getting killed in halo. if they did, i'll take out my pos2 and whack em with it cause it aint important. my xbox wants to be treated like a lady, nice and clean.

Xbox is a nice machine but u got to rough it up a bit. U got to show it who is boss not let it boss u around. Punk it down sometimes man. Dont wrry its a very durable thing trust me. the only thing that gets annoying is the seem on the controlers collects dead skin cells so that has to be cleaned othewise a good dusting and punking down should do the trick.

Phew I'm glad others have the same Point of view as me. I take perfect care of my xbox and my friends think i'm a freak for it. No drinks aloud anywhere near my xbox and I wont let anyone walk near my xbox while I'm playing. I worry the disc will skip and get scratched. I clean my xboxes cracks with damp q tips and wipe off the top and the area around it for dust weekly.

I have another friend (who shall remain nameless) who treats his xbox like total ****. He leaves it on the floor (never cleans his floor) with all this dust and dog hair. it has umpteen sticky marks all over it, hes dropped his controller from a standing position onto a wooden floor, spit egg into the d pad. he once left his game on the floor his dog chewed the case all to hell but amazingly didn't harm the disc.

But I'm not wierd right  ....right. lol

P.S. I never take my xbox to friends houses, I have taken it on trips but in a garbage bag wrapped in a towel zipped in a suitcase :D.

Speaking of dogs, I have my complete entertainment center in the basement of my house (furnished with a fridge full of beer and goodies), and i won't let the dog come downstairs cause he sheds hair. If i'm goingto be playing my Xbox on a certain day, i won't even let the dog on my lap cause he sheds all over me. Now that's some wild sh*t!!!
