View Full Version : Why don't they just make E3 public?

What with all the big bands, booth babes, free swag and all, it's really no different from Warped Tour. Just charge a cover fee, and let everyone in. Sure, they may have to build a new building just to house all the people, but doesn't it make more sense? Maybe they could have a press exclusive area or something, just make it public!

Probably because it would get really crowded.

That's why they build the new building! And charge entrance fees!

There are many reasons for this. Could you imagine the crime going on in there. People would go nuts and steal stuff like crazy.

hmmm... a game expo open to the public... i'd think that over 3 million people would register... and they'd have to bump up the enterance fee to like... $100 for all 3 days.

I'll tell you why E3 will never be public:
Because if it were, the video game devs will have one less thing to feel all high and mighty about. Trust me. I've known some people who work "in the industry" and they're almost all sycophantic snobs. Some friends of mine were looking to get video game jobs, but were so turned off by the attitudes that they decided to start making music videos. If E3 were open to everyone, the industry people will no longer be able to say "we can go to E3 and you simpletons can't."
Period.
The End.

Im not so sure about 3 million poeple. I mean think about it, it would be mainly like going to disneyland. You have to pay airfare to get to LA, Hotel rooms, cabfare or rental car money, entrance fees, food, souvineir money, and all other costs associated with a vacation. Thats not exactly cheap and the entrance fee wouldnt be under 100$ i dont think becuase this isnt just an arcade this is a sneak peek at the near futur of gaming with demos that cost money to make and whatever else costs that go into producing a booth or whatever at E3. We'll maybe i was exaggerating about over 100$ but more than likely deifnetly over 50$. Now lets see 50$ for entrance fee each day you go into E3. That can get expensive. And its not like the complex is held in is only mediocre size. It's huge! I remember when we drove by it on our vacation to cali.

HERE'S THE REAL ANSWER: E3 IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC...
if you have the money. I don't work in the industry, my buddy doesn't work in the industry...yet we've been at E3 all week. Luckily, I got a pass for free from my friend who works at the Staples Center (they get a certain # of free passes).
But, my friend who came with me went to the E3 Website and bought a pass for $250. On Wed, all he had to do was show ID that he indeed was the person who bought it, and *poof*, we were waltzing into E3. And let me tell you, even if I would've had to pay for the pass, it would've been worth it. Check out my E3 post titled "Postings of an E3 virgin" and you'll see why. So, if you have the money to go, do it next year. You won't regret it one bit.

I won't be able to afford it for several years, but we'll see.
And what about last year's E3? That was a kind of a huge letdown wasn't it? Sure, they unveiled the Xbox, but that was about as exciting as Nintendo saying the GameCube was going to come out. You're lucky you got an awesome year to go :)

LoL...
Anyways if they made E3 public then as Master Gracy said, they wouldnt have their lil "claim to fame" But whatever, if they dont wanna make it phesible to the public, then they should have it covered on T.V. Live for the whole three days. Which they would probably charge a fee, pay-per-view style.
Untill next time...
