MS isn't providing the internet, and I doubt they would also become an ISP as well. I doubt that the XBOX has that high of a impact for them to be able to do it.

It's more like that they are providing the servers for once you get online, to match you up with players, and to have dedicated hosts.
Personally, I think getting a broadband connection, especially cable, is a great idea - use a hub, connection to PC, connection to XBOX, too easy, free up the correct TCP/IP port, if there is a firewall installed - check on the XBConnect software site to find that...

wtf?! why not?! they already are an isp. i mean, they tried satellite high speed internet and it didn't work or whatever... so ok, well, time to go to something else. i mean damn man, they're only the 2nd biggest and richest company in the frikin world, so why not?!

What you are suggesting is like asking a car manufacturer to provide the road upon which to drive the car you bought off them.

I wouldn't be that surprised if microsoft did start offering broadband. Their whole concept of their multiplayer network could go belly up if they aren't careful. and knowing how money-hungry/monopolistic they are, I halfway expect them to offer cheap DSL/Live service combo.
