We are always asking for more, right? More everything in games, wether it be guns, race tracks, ect... X-box games are on DVD's right? So how much data can a DVD hold? in terms of MB's maybe, like the average CD will hold 600-700 MB's. I know the DVD has to hold more... How much of the DVD's space does a typical X-box game take? like Halo for example... Are developers leaving stuff out of games b/c of disk space?

About 9 Gigs. Developers leave stuff out simply because they have to rush to meet a deadline, or because their games are simply not taking advantage in nearly as many ways as they should.

The Dreamcast used a modified cd, as does the GameCube, that holds about a gig and a half. Otherwise, the standard size for a CD is 6-700 MB.

The xbox data cd can hold up2 9gig, compared to nintendo 1.5 gig..

Halo did not use half of this amount. no game that has come out has used all of the disk...they try to fill it with extras, like demo games and stuff...............

this is one of nintendo problems. they will be creating games on more then one disc, which i think is a bit lame.

Please insert disc 29

It depends on how many layers and sides are used on a DVD as for the amount it can hold.

A 80 Minute CD is 700 MB of Data, most are more of the 74 Min/650 MB of data kind.

I think that a single DVD layer holds somewhere in the realm of 4.5 - 4.7 GB, probably 4,700 odd MBs, so when doing the proper conversion not just division by 1000, it's 4.5 GB. I remember the big thing that was a DVD could hold over 17-18 GB when it was double layered, double sided. Most games and movies are compressed to fit onto a single sided, double layered DVD (DVD-9).

Apparently Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance will use an entire disk.
