Alright here's the low down.
I and a couple of my friends went to DSLReports.com and tested our connections. The closest server was NY,NY which is approx.3 hours and 15 minutes away from my house. The slowest connection one of my friends got was 1633kbps. Now since the server is 3 hours away it's prob faster than that. So, I'd like to get a 4-5 port switch that is between $0-$40 (like n e one sells them for $0, but hey yah never know).
Here is the link to my search at mysimon.com
My search (http://www.mysimon.com/isrch/index.jhtml?c=networking&InputModel=&dir=i&pgid=shop&InputManufacturer=&InputKeyword=5-Port+10+Switch&InputPriceMin=0.00&sort=Price&pay=VI&InputPriceMax=40.00&_ttag=isrch.rslt&key=UC_20020618_140433_0593165335&v=1&InputType=&pg=1)
If the link works, I want to know which one would be the best to get. If the $24 ones are just as good as the $40, why pay more cash? I'm trying to play Halo 12-16 way. I'd also like to know A) since I tested my connection at a server 3 hours away from me, how much faster my connection would be and B) Will I or will I not get any lag? I'd also know if Xbconnect would function well and not lag or have little lag. THANK YOU SOOOOOO DAMN MUCH IN ADVANCE!!! I'M BEGGING SOMEBODY TO HELP ME OUT!!! The one I thought looked best was the Linksys EZXS55W EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Switch. I dunno if I should get that one or not however I hear Linksys is very good + it got a very nice rating at Amazon.com If someone could help me out before 8 P.M. EST today, I'd be very very very happy.
So just to recap: I need a switch that will allow me to play Halo 12-16 or any other system link games that support up to 20 without or with very little lag. Signing off...
P.S. Remember no price higher than $40. If you find a router under $40 (which I doubt) that's good, pleaz let me know. The only info I must have is which switch would run the fastest with 3-4 systems on it.
