Ok I got the Xbox in my room along with one broadband connector thing connected to my PC. My dad has a 4 port router thing downstairs with 2 PCs hooked up to it and it is hooked up to another broadband connector thing downstairs.
I just wanna know if it is possible for me to just use my broadband port in my room for both my comp and xbox live (no router, just switching back and fourth) so that the router downstairs and all those comps are still online. If not what can I do to connect my xbox live up?

PS. I dont know much about computers so try not to make it too complicated. Thats why I keep using words like "thingys" and stuff like that. Thanks for you help.

just hook your computer and xbox up to the router. if hes only using 2 ports, then u have 2 more ports that are open. the modem is hooked up to the Uplink port. so you should have 4 ports that are for other stuff. my switch is a 5-port switch, 6 if you count the Uplink port.

for me... i'm gonna have my cable modem hooked up to my downstairs PC, have a second network card (in the downstairs pc) connected to my upstairs PC (yay! gonna bring network cables through the walls!) and then have it connected to a HUB or put a second network card in my PC to connect to my xbox...
