In the best buy catalogue, they recently advertised surround sound speakers 5.1 for 99.99. Heres my question, is it that cheap to get surround sound for xbox? Do you just plug the speaker cords into the xbox,tv? Or is there more to it? Like having to buy a receiver and stuff like that? Thanx for the help

if you can post a link to it....but 99 bucks for a 5.1 is really CHEAP. You get what you pay for. If it's just speakers- 1. is it one of those computer speaker systems 2. If not computer speakers you will need a reciever with Dolby Digital and/or DTS decoder.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If you want surround sound, your best bet is to buy a receiver and the surround sound speakers. It will take a while to save for, but it will be worth it. I wouldn't buy the 99 dollar kit just because the sound quality won't be as good. You totally need a receiver. The best receiver, in my opinion, is the Harman Kardan AVR 110.
