Sorry, there just seems like more activity in this board. Xbconnect is dead. Ok, is it faster to have two network cards, a router, or a hub? Having two cards is the cheapest for me, but I want to know which is faster ping-wise/connection-wise. Thanks.
It shouldn't make any speed difference, but a router is the best way to do it. A hub won't work at all. 2 cards will work fine as long as you don't want any future expansion.

Hubs work fine! I would suggest a switch instead.

get a router with a built in 10/100 switch.
Dont use a hub! A switch will give you equal bandwidth throughout all the ports.

Hey, i want to know what this switch thing is!
I'm thinking about getting ADSL soon, but i was just going to buy a normal router. How much difference would a switch make, and how much more expensive is it, in pounds please :D

A DSL modem will not work correctly with a hub.

DO NOT GET A HUB
Get a DSL router with a built in switch. A hub is a 'dumb' device. It broadcasts among all ports so you gets lots of useless traffic slowing you down. A switch is a smart device that acts as a traffic cop and sends out data only as needed. You also won't be able to share your DSL connection with just a hub, that's why they make DSL routers with switches in them.
When connecting to a WAN (a DSL modem qualifies) you CANNOT use a hub. You need a router.
The router I use is right here:
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10313240&hdwt=30704&loc=101
It has a 4 port 10/100 switch and a printer server built it. You can get it for a few bucks cheaper if you don't want the print server. You can also get them with bigger switches if you want to connect more computers.
