Microsoft revealed today that it is planning to release the Xbox game console in several new territories this year. As part of a continuing global expansion for the Xbox brand, regional launches of the console are being planned for South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Mexico and New Zealand. Specifics regarding launch dates, pricing, and associated software release schedules will be disclosed in the coming weeks. This comes just six months after Sony introduced the PlayStation 2 console in South Korea and Hong Kong.
"We're moving into new territories faster than any other gaming platform in history, highlighting our global commitment and investment for the future of Xbox around the world," said John O'Rourke, director of worldwide Xbox marketing at Microsoft. "These six territories were selected because of the high interest in intense Xbox games and because many of them are hotbeds for online gaming."

This could have a very positive effect on Xbox sales. Especially if they also get Xbox Live and a good online RTS or RPG. I know from my Battle.net days, that the Koreans just ate that stuff up.
