Ok, I have a question.
I have a DSL modem that's activated using a small application called "Access Manager" (I click connect and the modem starts working)
Once I have XBOX LIVE all hooked up and ready to go, will I have to use my computer to connect to the web?
Or will my XBOX know how to start my modem?

FYI: My internet service is Bell Canada
PS: I play on xbconnect and it works ok.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HELP ME!!!!!!!!

I've never heard of a modem that you click connect with your PC to get it working..

that is really weird.. and I simply don't understand why they have it working like that.

Mine is on all the time.. the only way to shut it off is pull the power plug.

I guess if you leave your modem on all the time.. and have your PC and Xbox hooked up to it through a hub then you shouldn't ever have to worry.. Or you'll just have to hit connect real quick.

Anyways man, good luck and have fun... and that is weird! connect button eh??? weirdness

If you have to click it to connect to the internet regularly my guess is you do the same with live. I don't know if they would program something in that automatically starts your internet "application."

lol, i know what youre talking about. my friend has SNET DSL, and he has to like connect to something to go online. it takes like 1 second though. anyway, all you gotta do, is just do your regular connection thing (like turn on your modem and connect to your ISP), then youre good to go. your xbox will NOT know how to start the modem. you have to do that, but afterwards, you can just go on xbox live:D :)

yea, but dont get a router. get a switch. theyre much cheaper and better. i got the Linksys Etherfast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Switch, and it works really well. and yea, you can get a cable that long. i had to get a cable that was like 50 feet. but i found a website, it had really cheap prices on cables, i got the 50 foot cable for like 12 bucks (which is really cheap). they custom made it for me, i got to pick the color and everything. anyway, i forget the site address, but if i find it, ill PM you. so, yea, you can do that. but just get that switch.:D :) i almost forgot. dont get crossover cables. just get regular Cat-5 Patch cables.

You'll definitely want to get yourself a nice broadband router.

You can get broad band cables for a router as long as you want. I have one going from my basement to my top level. That would be three stories. Around 100-250 feet of cable was used I think.

Use Windows XP......Once you have WinXp, you don't need "Access Manager" anymore. (That program is for Windows 95, 98)...I use Sympatico.....That's the same ISP as yours. PM me and I will tell you how to download WinXP.....

See you.
