Screenshots don't impress me, movies do. Since there is no movies about this, the ps2 LOTOR is winning right now but hopefully this will kill it.

I saw footage on ign on the ps2 version ... the part where you were on a castle and you could push people off ladders and people were shooting fire rocks at you destroying the castle was just amazing.

the part where u play as the hobbit looks kinda dull. but the parts where u play as the archer and mage look cool (i forget the names).

Too bad the LOTR DVD only mentions, discusses and shows the PS2 version with no mention that it is coming to Xbox. :mad:

That is the EA version of it... these screenshots are of a different title all together.

This one is supposed to be more of an RPG Action Adventure....Sports....game haha Thought I'd throw that in considering the length of the genre. Maybe it's even a porno game...

Anyways the EA one is just plain action and you only play as Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas.

This version, from Universal is it? Is based on the book, while the EA one(as always without depth) is based on the movie...stupid EA....I'm just mad at them for sugar coating bad games as of late.

So yeah...2 different games :)

It looks alright. I don't think it will satisfy my early expectations.:( Hopefully it will follow the book very closely though. I do not want some stupid game that has nothing to do with The Lord Of The Rings except the title and characters.

You should read the book for this game and then later watch the movie for the EA game. Always read the book first.

IMO I think that any LOTR game will rock if done right. I too was not happy that the ppl did not look like their movie counter-parts but that matters little if the game rocks. I want a LOTR RPG though, and this game does not look like the one on the cover of OXM a few months back,,,that one looked good and I think it was a RPG. BTW I bet we get that PS2 version, why? EA is greedy

Theres only three books, hence it always referred to as a "trilogy".

There is also the hobbit, which kind of sets the stage for the next three..

I have had one question though, is the game for the xbox based on the first book,"The fellowship of the ring," or on all three in the trilogy?

I loved the books, loved the movie, hopefully Ill love the game.

This will not be anything like Morrowind. Morrowind is an open ended RPG in which you can do anything you want. In this game (seeing as it takes the story of the books) you will have to follow that story line. I think it will be a good on rails RPG if they make it as close to the book as possible. In other words it will be a game like Final Fantasy. Except better. The EA game has been for all 3 systems since the very begining. It is an action game. This first Lord of the Rings RPG exclusively on XBOX will follow the first "book" (there is actually 2 books in what people call the first book). Then they will conescutively release the following 2 books of the trilogy in seperate games.

Actually, if you want to nitpick, it is not a trilogy its 7 books. Each volume in the trilogy is actually 2 books. And the 7th book is a book of appendices.
