Hello, since this thread went over so well at TXB forums (over 8500 page views), and since I'm new here, I thought you XBA guys might appreciate it. I am also pretty experienced at the game, if anyone has any questions, simply ask them in the thread and I'll try to respond.

Big spoilers ahead, new stuff will be at the bottom.

Goldbrand, long sword, one handed. 10-50, 10-45, 10-25, weight 40, value 150k, cast on strike fire damage 10-30

Locate the Underwater Boethiah Shrine Ruin, which is just off the west coast of Hla Oad. Within the shrine you must locate the desecrated Statue of Boethiah and talk to the head that is lying on the ground. After he gives you the quest, go to the 3rd floor of the Ghorak Manor in Caldera, and find an orc sculptor named Duma gro-Lag. He will tell you to find a book (Boethiah's Glory), which you can get from Jobasha's Rare Books in the Foreign Quarter Lower Waistworks in Vivec. Return the book to the orc scuptor, and wait about 30-50 days. A new statue will be built north of Khartag Point, talk to it for the Goldbrand

Mace of Molar Bal, mace, one handed. 3-30, 3-35, 1-4, weight 45, worth 25k. casts absorb str and magicka on strike

Locate the Yansirramus Shrine located 2 islands west of Tel Aruhn. Talk to the statue of Molag Bal, he will entrust you to kill one of his minions, Menta Na, located in the Kora-Dur cave east of Kogoruhn (just NW of Red Mountain). The cave entrance is located high up on the hills. Once you defeat Menta Na, return to Molag Bal and he will reward you the mace.

Skull Crusher, blunt, one handed, 10-60, 10-50, 7-10, weight 15, worth 48k. constant effect: feather 15, attack +5

Go to Sadrith Mora, and head out east over the hills. You should reach a daedric shrine with no entrance. Go northeast from here onto an island and find the Omaren Ancestral Tomb. The tomb is long and difficult, and near the end you should reach the Forgotten Vaults of Anudnabia. Enter the locked vault; the hammer is located in a dangling locked chest in the middle of the smelter. (there is a daedric mask up on a ledge too, right above the glass sword i think, they are rare, pick it up)

Scourge, blunt, one hand, 10-35, 10-35, 6-8, weight 30, value 80k, cast on use: summon dremora & scamp for 30

Go to Tel Fyr. Enter the Hall of Fyr, and look for an opening in the ceiling. Levitate to the top, then look for a locked chest in the same room as Divayth Fyr. The Scourge is in the chest. (kill this guy after you are cured of Corprus, he has full Daedric. and remember to use his amulet :) )

Daedric Crescent, long blade, 2 hands, 15-40, 20-50, 5-15, 35 weight, 180k value, cast when strikes disintergrate armor 5-30, paralyze 10 seconds

Go to Tel Fry, and fly up to Divayth Fyr's room (he is a 4000 year old mage with full daedric armor, VERY TOUGH customer.) Either kill him or try to take the amulet from his chest. Put the amulet on, you'll be wisked away to a daedric shrine where you'll fight Lord Dragas Volar, who uses this weapon. Kill him, you'll be transported back with the weapon to Tel Fyr.

Spear of Bitter Mercy, 1-15, 1-15, 15-60, 2 handed spear, weight 20, value 130k, cast upon use summon storm atronarch, reflect.

Go into the canal works of St. Delyn Canton in Vivec, down there you will find a door. Through it is a bunch of enemies guarding a statue. Once you have killed them off, talk to the statue, and he gives you a quest. To do the quest, go find Big Head who lives on the westernmost island from Dagon Fel (its directly north of the ruins), then get the Fork of Horipilation, and head west to the first island you come across, where there should be a Giant Bull Netch. Make sure you use the fork to land the killing blow, then go back to the statue to collect the spear. (i'm level 60 spear char, best spear i've found so far, i think it's the best in the game)

Umbra Sword, 2 handed long sword, 10-50, 10-45, 10-40, weight 40, value 110k. soul trap 120 secs, cast on use.

East of Suran you'll see an Orc with full Orcish armor. You can talk to him and he'll challenge you, or you can just whoop him without saying anything. If you're a wimp levitate on the rock first because he's pretty tough.

Chrysamere, 5-70, 5-60, 5-40, 60 weight, 95k worth. cast on use: resist fire, restore health, reflect

Go Southwest from Sandrith Mora and look for a cave entrance to Abanabi. In the cave there just go through and one of the people you kill has it.

Lord's Mail, 333 AR, 30 weight (heavy), 190k value. cast when used: cure poison, resist magic 20-30 for 30.

Go to Ebonheart. Near the castle, there will be an underwater door (check your map in local mode, it will show up as a dot). Go through the door into the caves, where you will have to kill a soldier for the armor. You can also get in here from the Imperial Commission in Ebonheart. Look for a secret door in the shrine room. The key is under a pillow of one of the house beds.

Dragonbone Cuirass 333 AR, 50 weight, 150k worth, contant effect: resist fire 100%.

Go to Ebonheart. South of the castle, there will be a couple of small islands. There is an underwater cave entrance at the base of one of the islands. You will then have to traverse through an underwater grotto and then go through the Mudan Dwemer Ruins to finally reach a locked closet with the armor inside. (there are keys for the Lock Level 100 doors scattered around). You will need to be able to swim underwater for long durations.

Cuirass of the Savior's Hide, 266 AR, weight 15 (light), value 150k. constant effect: resist magicka 60%

One of the most useful armors in the game, even for people not trained in light armor. Highest resist magic you'll find in the game, and you can't make one half as good. Great to use with boots of blinding speed. Go to Tel Fyr, upstairs in the Hall of Fyr is a closet with 100 lock cuirass inside.

Fist of Randagulf Left hand, 300 AR, weight 16 (heavy), 35k worth. constant effect: fortify agility 20

Go to Gnaar Mok (easiest way is to take the silt strider to Khuul, and from Khuul take a boat to Gnaar Mok). Go north of town to Khartag Point (a massive rock), and locate the Ilunibi Cave. At the very end of the cave, you should come across a strange room with 6 bells and some chests. The gauntlets are cleverly hidden behind one of the chests.

Fist of Randagulf Right hand, 300 AR, weight 16 (heavy), 35k worth, constant effect: fortify str 20

Same as Fist of Randagulf Left Hand.

Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw, 300, weight 10 (heavy), value 125k, constant effect: fortify agility and endurance 40 points

This helm is amazing, and no face, so beast races can use. Visit the Assurdiarpal Shrine located on the eastern coast of an island far west of Dagon Fel. In the Shrine, find the statue of Malacath and talk to it. Do his quest. Go to the town of Vivec, ask any local about Oreyn Bearclaw, and you'll know who to kill. Return to the statue of Malacath for the Helm.

Mask of Clavicus Vile, 266 AR, 15 weight (heavy), worth 15k, constant effect: fortify personality 30

A great helm for bribing, taunting, etc. Just across the bay (east I think) of Dagon Fel is a Dwemer tower with a necromancer. Kill him for the helm.

Robe of St. Roris, weight 3, 40 value, cast when used: restore fatigue and health 15 points a second

UPDATE: No longer is this robe constant effect, it's cast when used. A lot less powerful now obviously.

WARNING: I strongly suggest you don't use this if you want ANY challenge at all, by far the most invicibility you're going to get in this game. Go to Assamanu, located on an island southeast of Syda Neen. Get to the end of the cave, the robe is in a locked chest on a high ledge. There is an Ascended Sleeper in the room, careful. You'll need a lot of levitate potions/scrolls to get through this cave.

Robe of the Drake's Pride, weight 3, 205 value, constant: fort intelligence 10, reflect 25.

Kill Senise Thindo in Tel Aruhn for this robe, she is wearing it. This is a house Telvanni quest, so don't throw it away or sell it and then forget it.

Redas Robe of Deeds, weight 3, 225 value, constant effect: feather 50, detect animal 25f

South of Molag Mar is the Redas Ancestral Tomb. Robe is lying in plain sight on the ground.

Boots of Blinding Speed, AR will fluctuate, weight 8 (light), worth 500, constant effect 100% blind, fortify speed 200

Go to Caledra. Leave town going West. On the first opportunity, turn North on the road. You should pass a naked barbarian first, and soon after run into a woman with shiny boots. Talk to her, and escort her to Gnaar Mok. You'll get the boots after the escort. Not very useful unless you can score an item of enough magic resistance to negate the blind. Cuirass of Savior's Hide is great for this.

Boots of the Apostle, 266AR, 10 weigth (light), 55k worth, cast when used levitate 30-40 for 30.

Find the Dunmer Fortress Berandus, SE of Gnisis. The boots are on a corpse at the very bottom of the fortress.

Surefeet, 3 weight, 2 value, constant effect fortify acrobatics 6

Go see Baladas Demnevanni in Arvs-Drelen in Gnisis and collect his 3 books for him, or simply kill him for it.

Ten Pace Boots, 266 AR, 60 weight (heavy), worth 140k, cast when used: fort speed 20, fort athletics 20, drain fatigue 5, slowfall 1, all for 120 seconds.

From the temple of Vivec, go east a few islands and find the daedric ruin Bal Fel. Boots are in a 75 point chest inside.

Azura's Star, weight 2, value 2 million, reusable soul gem.

Amazing item. From Molag Mar, head almost directly east till the coast. Around there you should find the Shrine of Azura. Go in and do her quest. Then go to Dagon Fel, swim a while north west onto one of the bigger islands, you'll see a golden saint and other monsters. Kill them, grab the ring off the saint and head back to the Shrine of Azura for this awesome item.

Necromancer's Amulet, 1 weight, 240 value, constant effect: resist normal weapons 25%, fort intelligence 25, restore health 1, spell absorption 25

A VERY nice item indeed, 2 ways of getting it. Either kill Trebonius Artorius in the Mage's Guild in Vivec, or get to just before Arch-Mage in Mage's Guild and then you can challenge him to a fight in the Arena for control of the Mage Guild (then loot his body)

Trebonius' Staff, blunt, 2 hands, 2-16, 3-16, 1-10, weight 16, 10k value. cast when strikes: weak to fire and shock 7-15% for 6 secs in 5 feet, fire and shock damage 7-15 in 5 feet

See above, use either method as necromancer's amulet.

Ring of Phynaster, 0.1 weight, 18k value, constant effect: resist poison, magicka, shock 20%

Go southeast of Dagon Fel and find Senim Ancestral Tomb, inside you'll find the corpse of Pop Je, ring is on corpse.

Mentor's Ring, 0.1 weight, 8k value, constant effect: fortify intelligence and willpower 10

West of Scyda Neen along the shores you'll find the Samarys Ancestral Tomb along the hills. Ring is in a special urn at the end of the tomb.

Denstagmer's Ring, 0.3 weight, 12k value, constant effect: resist fire, frost, shock 30%

Close to the signpost near Gnisis you'll find the Falas Ancestral Tomb, inside is a trapped urn with the ring

Marara's Ring, 0.1 weight, value 22k, constant effect: reflect 20, fort acrobatics 10, resist normal weapons 40%.

Use this with Necromancer's Amulet (effects stack), and you are very powerful indeed. South of Dagon Fel is a cave called Shallit. It's hard to find because it's right near the water. Inside you'll find another entrance to the Drethas Ancestral Tomb. Kill the vampire Marara inside to get her ring.

Keening, shortsword, one handed, 9-15, 9-15, 9-18, 9 weight, 400k value, constant effect: fortify magicka 50, health 30, attack 30, speed 20, agility 20

Needless to say the best shortsword in the game. Either go through to the end of the main quest to get, or head early to the Dwemer fortress Odrosal southeast of Dagoth Ur in Red Mountain. Tough competition inside. WARNING: use this without Wraithguard and you're probably gonna die.

Sunder, blunt, one handed, 10-70, 10-60, 1-4, 40 weight, 400k value, constant effect: fortify attack 30, str 20, drain fatigue 1, fortify end 20, luck 20

Again, probably the best hammer in the game, it's acquired with Keening near the end of the main quest. Or go to the Dwemer fortress Vemynal NW of Dagoth Ur in Red Mountain and get it yourself. Very tough competition inside. WARNING: use this without Wraithguard and you're probably gonna die.

Amulet of Heartrime, weight 5, 20k value, cast on use: fortify magicka 30-60 for 30, sanctuary 10-20 for 30, fortify conjuration 20 for 30.

Found in the Dwemer fortress Endusal just southeast of Dagoth Ur. Found on the corpse of a dagoth in lower section. Books down there look quest related, I would keep in a safe place.

Eleidon's Ward, 333 AR, 30 weight (heavy), 200k value, cast when used: restore health 50-100

Probably the best shield in the game, found at the bottom of a dungeon called Ibar-dad, west of a daedric ruin which is just west of the Urshilaku camp. Also: there is a daedric face in inspiration here too, you won't find many, so grab it. The shield is placed high in a burial tomb including 8 skulls with ancient silver daggers in them, along with a bunch of daedric weapons.

Wraithguard (right hand), 266 AR, 15 weight (heavy), 500k value, constant: shield 10, reflect 20, resist blight 50, resist fire, shock, frost, poison, magicka 10

Needed to wield Keeing and Sunder safely, this baby rocks. Two ways to get this, one, you follow main quest until Vivec gives it to you, or you kill Vivec and retrieve 2 books. First book is Kagrenak's Playbook from Tureynulal (north east of Dagoth Ur), 2nd is his Journal book from Endusal (south west of Dagoth Ur). I have never tried this method, but I believe you bring both of these books to the last surviving Dwemer, he is in the Corprusarium in Tel Fyr (big fat guy with spider legs).

Amulet of Flesh Made Whole, weight 1, value 500, cast when used: restore health 1-150, cure poison, cure common and blight, restore endurance, agility, personality, strength 5-15 points

You can score this amulet in the Telvanni quests or you can kill Berengeval in Tel Naga, Sadrith Mora first. Either way you kill him. At Rank 4 in Telvanni house, Dratha in Tel Mora will ask you to kill him. He is in the General Quarters section of the tower.

Vampiric Ring, weight 0.1, value 32k, cast when used absorb health and fatigue 20-30 for 10

Very powerful ring, a few uses takes out almost anyone. Ring is found in the Velothi dome at Ald Redaynia, which is west of Sheogorad. In the dome, you'll find a skeletal wizard, take him out for your prize.

Ring of the Wind, 0.1 weight, 8k value, constant effect: fortify agility 30

Nice ring, combine with Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw and left hand fist of Randagulf and you have yourself a constant +90 agility. 2 ways to get it, either get it through Imperial Cult's quests or go to Nannu (west of Tel Aruhn) and kill Galmis Dren for the ring. Nannu is 2 islands west of Tel Aruhn in a small bay on mainland.

Ice Blade of the Monarch, long sword, 2 hand, 5-50, 4-40, 3-30, 60 weight, 95k worth, cast when strikes: fire 10-40

Decent blade for sure, can score it by doing Imperial Cult quests or get it early by heading to the dunmer stronghold Rotheran, south of Dagon Fel. Llaren Terano has the sword, whack him for it. (keep his ring and robe safe if you want to do this quest later for the cult)

Redas Robe of Deeds, weight 3, 225 value, constant: feather 50, detect animal 25 feet.

Good robe for hauling home all your phat loot :) Either get this by doing Redoran quests, or head to Redas Ancestral Tomb south of Molar Mar and get it yourself. This place is right close to the Kaushtababi ashlander camp.

NEW:

Fang of Haynekhtnamet, short blade, one hand, 11-20, 11-20, 13-30, weight 5, value 32k, cast when strikes shock 20-40

Decent little blade, score it from Mamaea, west of Bal Istra. Find the Sanctum of Black Hope inside and you'll find the dagger in a box by a Sixth House shrine.

Black Hands Dagger, short blade, one hand, 9-20, 9-20, 9-20, weight 9, 15k value. cast when strikes: blind 10-50 for 30, absorb health 10-25 for 30

Can only get it from Master rank of Morag Tong I believe.

Soul Ring, weight 0.2, value 30k, cast when used: dispel 10-20, fortify magicka and health 10-20 for 30, resist shock and paralysis 10-20 for 30

Get this thing from Mamaea, west of Bal Istra. Find the Sanctum of Black Hope room. The ring is on Dagoth Araynys. Kill em!

Eltonbrand, long sword, one handed, 10-60, 5-55, 5-25, weight 40, value 150k, cast when strikes: fire damage 10-30, fortify attack 30 for 30, restore fatigue 10.

First, you must be a vampire and have acquired Goldbrand already. Go to Vivec Mage's Guild and see Sirilonwe and get her quest. You must kill Shashev at the Ald-Skar Inn in Ald-Ruhn and get his key. Return to see Sirilonwe and make SURE you have the Goldbrand and EXACTLY 11171 gold septims on you. At this point your Goldbrand will be exchanged for the Eltonbrand. This ridiculous sword is obviously an easter egg from Bethesda. Enjoy vampires :)

Mehrunes' Razor, short blade, one hand, 12-15, 12-15, 12-17, weight 6, value 5k, cast on strike: disintegrate armor 6-25, weakness to poison 5 for 20, poison 6-20

You get this for finishing the quest given by the statue of Mehrunes Dagon. Shrine is northwest of Gnisis, on a little island. You gotta bring back a rusty dagger from the Alas Ancestral Tomb which is northwest of Mount Assaribibi and northest of Mount Kand. Inside the tomb, find the body of Varner Hleras and grab the dagger from it. Return to Mehrunes and he'll sharpen it for ya.

Ebony Mail, medium, 120k value, constant: resist fire 75%, resist magicka 20%, shield 50.

Best cuirass in the game, it's had at the very end of the temple quests. You'll have to go to Mount Assarnibibi (close to Molag Amur). Simply talk to the shrine and it will pop into your inventory.

Spent alot of time on this, gimme a bump.

I was wondering when you would post this one over here! Nice to have you here Jarvis! By the way, the Helm of Bearclaw isn't Strength, I think it's Agility and speed or somethin'.

hey you are absolutely right, i just checked an old character pic of mine with the helm on and it's endurance, not strength.

i didn't post right away cause i wasn't sure if the people here wanted txb peeps around, i'm glad to see it's a small number. i'm glad to have a friend around here just the same though.

i'll try not to disappoint with my posts.

Why is your name so familiar? Did you make a character planner before Morrowind's release?

Nah, we don't mind people from TXB, just yesterday it got kind of outta hand. Either way, you were always one of the more helpful posters at TXB. I'd be shocked if you had anyone flyin' off the handle at you here.

Jarvis! Glad to see you migrated the post over here! I have gotten so sick and tired of TXB, that even though I have gone back ond forther here and there the last couple of months, I am almost exclusively XBA-focused now.

And you know, that Robe of Deed in the Redas Tomb NEVER DID show up for me there. I have looked everywhere in there and am completely convinced it was never there! LOL...

BTW, I am still looking for a sleeker looking exquisite "kilt" (skirt) besides the kind of brownish one that most merchants have.... Have you run across any good exquisite skirts besides what seems to almost be the "default" in the game?

nice list, I hate to nitpick but the fist of rangdonolfs ar is 300. And an empty azuras star is worth 5K ( one with a golden saint is 2 mil.) And you should add that scourge cast dremora and scamp for 30 secs. Robe of drakes pride doesnt resist fire. Surefeet fortifies acrobats and agility 3 only.

u could maybe add the dwemer boots of flying. their armor rating is only 66 and they are only worth 470 but they levitate 1-100 points for 10 seconds. thats more han boots of apostle. i just take of my ral boots and use them when needed. well i dunno if u want to add em, doubt it cuz they only last 10 seconds, but u can recast in the air if u need to, o and they weigh 40 lbs!

yeah, they don't really deserve to be on the "best of" list really, i want to keep this strictly the best in the game. i actually have a whole bunch more stuff that is not listed here simply because it's not "the best"

i'm not exactly sure why bethesda put almost no decent pauldrons, xbows or greaves in the game. it's quite frustrating when you compare to breastplates, helmets, or boots.

i have 7 out of 10 of them, they are normally near people who can protect them.

dude in tel fyr has one (divayth fyr), a guy in caldera has one i think, one of the shopkeeps, it's on his window sil, alchemy grandmaster has one on her table i believe.

not really sure where i got the rest of mine, they aren't easy to find.

Figured I'd try here as well... I am trying to find some daedric greaves - mine disappeared! I know of Divath Fyr and Dren's plantation, but neither are there (killed Fyr and used them, and took Dren's but don't know where they are - checked with mudcrab and he doesn't have them). I seriously don't know what happened to them. Can anyone point me to other Daedric greaves in the game?

TKF pointed out some at a Daedric Shrine, but I can't find it based on his description. Can anyone point them out to me? I also thought I heard about some that are enchanted with constant +50 feather - those would be cool, bt just plain ones would be sufficient.

Thanks everyone!

sorry, those are the only 3 index locations i can think of for sure

caldera shop (not sure which one), it's on his window sill right beside him. believe this is part of a thief guild quest too

one on the table behind divayth fyr (head honcho in tel fyr)

one beside grandmaster alchemist (she is in one of the north western dunmer stronholds)

Thanks for the post. Actually just before this was posted I found Chrysamere in some cavern I just kept passing by. I was pretty sure there wasn't much left to interest me, but apparently there's a few things worth checking out.

Anyway, this should rate as a sticky.

edit - BTW I have a few of the indexes for the propylon chambers, but is there really any point? As far as I can tell they just send you to other places that I've been already? Anything special about them other than that?

Jarvis, great list, but i cant seem to find the right and left fist's of randagulf. I went to Ilunibi, and the cave is in 3 sections: the carcass of the saint, Morwaks marrow (something like that), and *insert name here* spine.

I cannot find the room with bells, and i think i have pretty much searched everywhere, if you could help me out with some detailed directions it'd be cool. (anyone who knows this, feel free to tell me:D )

i have gone through like every door i think, it seems like it is a big circle, cause i go through a door, then i walk and walk to the next door, then walk and walk, then the next door is the room i started off in.

Well think about it, if you have a good number of them you can travel far distances very quickly. just write down the 2 propylons in each fortress for later reference so you know what goes where.

shrew king: you are definitely missing something, look around more, don't just follow the circle.

-jarvis so u beat all the house quests, faction quests, romance quests, vampire quests, misc quets, daedric quests, main quest, etc? im sure u havent. u need to have at least 3 characters to do everything. one for each vampire clan. and one for each great house, unless u use the hlallu rick to join 2 houses. thers more u can do, trust me. if not then go on a rampage and kill the world.

not everything, but everything i could do in my particular game.

i beat the main quest, was grandmaster of morag tong, archmage of mage's guild, master of fighter's guild, top guy in temple, top guy in imperial cult, halfway up hhallu, redoran (i did the orvis dren kill trick to get in both) and imperial legion. i couldn't go anywhere in thieve's guild due to past murders. i covered at least 85-90% of the map, did every quest I could find, found every item i could find (every item on my big items list i found myself except eltonbrand cause i wasn't a vampire).

i seriously did everything i could man, i just didn't feel like starting a new character to do a house or vampire clans.

i had fun though, and played a ton. morrowind is a fantastic game.

What's up with this Ebony Mail that I keep reading about? I read that it's some awesome medium armor (a rarity). If it's sooo good, why not list it? I think it's obtainable via Temple quests, but I dunno.

What about this two great house trick? I killed Orvas Dren awhile back (just for fun), and I'm in Redoran. Any way I can get in another house?

Your list roxxors the boxxors, as they say. Already saw it at TXB awhile back.

I know about this ebony mail. You must be a master Temple. Where you reach it, you have a order that you must go the grave near Mt. Assarnibibi (look on your map about Molag Amur). When you have found it, talk to the grave and you will have the ebony mail.

I got past the puzzle canal, and then some. I'm nearly done with all the temple quest (did everything for the guy in Ald-Ruhn and in Vivec). Just need to increase either blunt weapon or mysticism to 90 so I can become the highest rank (both are around 70, so I have a while to go unless I use master trainers).

I think I'll use the master trainers...I just netted myself 300k gold using a simple little trick.

GamemasterD
09-05-2002, 12:01 PM
The only reason they go after you is because you probably wore their armor and spoke to one of 'em. It's a blessing and a curse. A blessing in the fact that you'll have no problem at all making money, but a curse in the fact that anything you have to do in Vivec (a lot of stuff to do) will be nothing short of a pain in the ass.

Do have fun, though.

My method (of money-making):

1. Mark at Mudcrap, er, Mudcrab
2. Use Divine intervention
3. Use Almisivi intervention
4. Kill ordinators (forget the ones near the doors to the temple; they have silver claymores instead of ebony maces)
5. Recall to Mudcrab and sell stuff, sleeping 24 hours to let him regenerate cash (you'll be attacked by enemies; get used to it).
6. Repeat steps 2-5
