A few answer's from MS (1-800 number) about Beta Testing.

Okay, seeing all these posts on Xbox site's about Beta Testing, and people getting picked and all that stuff, I called 1-800-4MY-XBOX, and talked with a LIVE person (not those robots on xbox.com) about what's really going on. Here's what she told me:

8/13/02-8/14/02: 5,000 of the 10,000 email's were sent to the Beta Tester's.

1,000 NEW Beta Tester's will be emailed each week for the NEXT five (5) week's:

8/18/02-8/24/02: 1,000 NEW emails will be sent. At ANYTIME.

8/25/02-8/31/02: 1,000 NEW emails will be sent. At ANYTIME.

9/1/02-9/7/02: 1,000 NEW emails will be sent. At ANYTIME.

9/8/02-9/14/02: 1,000 NEW emails will be sent. At ANYTIME.

9/15/02-9/21/02: 1,000 NEW emails will be sent. At ANYTIME.

She said to keep checking your email inbox for a Beta email starting on Sunday. She didn't know if at the end of the five week's if you would get an email or not saying you were not picked. That they haven't been told yet. This part she made very clear. If you get the email saying you are a Beat Tester, don't go posting it every place you can think of. You will lose your Beta Account.

what if i post it in ONE place? just not EVERY place? lol. but how will they know? do they have people that just like go to different forums? they probly do, so, if i get the beta test email, im not tellin anyone. lol. but they already sent out 5,000 emails? damn, i didnt get picked yet. i wonder if anyone from xba got picked?

well, in the survey, it said you would be notified by the 20th (the next 2 weeks not the end of the 5 weeks) whether or not you were accepted into the beta testing program. If they lied about that, i seriously question whether i want to be a beta tester at all.

Yea I think that's a bunch of BS. Nobody has reported getting the email, or one guy reported a fake email, but emails have not been sent out yet. Believe me someone would spill the beans.. remember the Warcraft 3 beta testing? They have by the 21st to send the emails out. Xbox reps know nothing about Xbox Live, but do know things about the Xbox hardware. The 1800myxbox people are good with helping, but this just isnt their topic.. same thing with the online reps.

You know, I think I am starting to argee with Shannon-XBA and every one else. My friend John came over with Crazy Taxi 3 and when we were taking a break he called, 18004MYXBOX and asked.

The man that he spoke with said NO emails had been sent about the Beta Testing. Like with what Shannon-XBA said, he said you will get an email on the 20th or the 21st, if you or will not be a Beta Tester. So, I get online, and talked with a robot named Kar told me what I posted before "5,000 had been emailed the other 5,000 in the next 5 weeks." John get's on my laptop with the great 28.8K modem, and talk's with a robot named Patrick. He gives the same story that robot Kar gave me.

So three things are going on:

1) The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. (IE:People are being told different things)
2) 5,000 have really been picked.
3) No one has been picked.

Take your pick.
