It is well known that you need to have a broadband internet connection in order to get xbox live. It seems that most of you do. However most of you do not even know what broadband and narrow band mean. So for those who are unsure of what they are, read the following.

There are also some people who think they know what broadband and narrowband mean but are actually wrong. These people are spreading rumors and lies. You people should really learn what broadband and narrowband actually mean.

Go here (http://people.uis.edu/pmccu1/com541/paper2.htm) for a quick run down of some broadband.

Go here (http://webopedia.internet.com/TERM/b/broadband_transmission.html) for a definition of a broadband transmission.

Basically Narrowband and Broadband are words used to describe what speed a certain internet service provides. Anything higher than a 56k dialup modem is broadband and anything lower is narrowband.

Broadband and narrowband are also short ways of saying Broad bandwidth and narrow bandwidth. Think of physics, in Broadband a whole lot of electrons can flow through the connection easily. Whereas in narrowband only a few electrons can struggle through the connection slowly.

I hope this clears up any misconceptions that one may have about internet connections. :)

If the page says ISDN is broadband then it is. It might not be very good broadband ,if that is what you meant, but that does not mean it isn't broadband.

Well, since your nowhere's near to being a network tech for M$ or anything...read and learn (http://www.natcotech.com/broadband.htm) . I have my CCNA, which deals with everything from dial-up to WAN technology...and if you don't think that an internet connection that can support multiple applications, while running at a steady, moderate speed is broadband...then go try and get a T1 or somethin :o

My dsl is only 266 down/103 up (average actuall speed's). Ping time's on XboxConnect were at best 52. Still, that beat's the hell out of 56k! (with ping time's 200+? and actual speed's of about 40-45 down and 15-25 up) I could order up to 1280/320 dsl, but $40 a month is already quite enough !

Yeah I'll second that one Big Gamer! $40 is more than enough!
