Didn't get picked for Beta? Make a bid on Ebay for one!

Alright, I was looking on Ebay just now and found this:

I would NEVER pay that much to be a tester. Must be nice to blow money like that just for a 2 1/2 months head start. I'll just head down to my friends house when he get's his Beta package in the mail.

Also, I found other Xbox Beta Auctions that were closed already. One was at $1 when it was closed, the other was at $180-ish when it was closed. This one will be closed also, I think it has to do with an Ebay rule. Don't remember what one though, I haven't used ebay in months.

(Also I didn't know somthing like this was in the main forum. I didn't even look there first.)

I contacted Xbox Chat Center Support and asked them if this was even legal. The support specialist said that Beta Kits are NOT to be sold on ebay or by any other means, and even if they were, they were pretty much useless to anyone other than the original Beta tester.

I just get tired of the whole "I've got money so I can do what I want" attitude that some people have.

And I don't want that bozo (that would be you, sledgmb) that took that possible Beta spot from me or others that really wanted to try out the system just to make a killing off of it.

Well, I sent your bid to them, and the Tech support technician said they would be taking immediate action to keep this from happening. Ebay has already dropped the bids on other Kits, and will most likely be doing the same to you.

You may be having a problem with Microsoft as well, for possible EULA infractions.

It's not like I saw you steal some kid's lunch in the third grade and I told the teacher. It's more like you stole MY lunch and then took it and sold it off for more than it was worth.

You took something that was potentially MINE. Mine, or Playya's, or anyone else that wanted to be a beta tester. And all so you could make a pocketful of dimes.

Well, just like you did anything you could so that you could do that, I'm going to do anything I can to make sure you can't. Why? Because I'm a little goody two shoes? No. Because you did it AT MY AND THE OTHER POTENTIAL TESTER'S EXPENSE.

I'm all for people making money and coming up with creative ways to do it. But not at the expense of others.

hey, i didn't sign up to be an xbox live beta tester just to make some money out of the deal. i signed up because i'm stoked about xbox live just like everyone else. i was at best buy last year at 4am to buy my xbox on release date just like alot of other guys out here. i signed up to be an xbox live beta tester b/c i'm stoked about live. BUT - when i see that someone might make a $200 profit and the only downside is that they may have to wait 3 more months and might not get "little_***_crybaby" for a gamertag, i'm all about the profit at this point. heck, that'll pay for unreal championship, brute force, ghost recon, and nfl fever 2003. it's all about the games batman, all about the games.

Well, at least to an extent.

I could care less about what name I get or even that I get it a couple of months early. I'm in it for the actual Beta testing. I'm a programmer by trade, and I like to test programs and make them better. I've been on several other Beta tests, games and otherwise, and I love doing it.

You're just abusing the system. That upsets me. What can I say. Call me a cry baby or whatever. But it still comes down to you taking a system and twisting it for the benefit of yourself at the expense of others.
