Can you use a cell phone Mic/Ear piece for XBL?

This is a question for all the beta testers. Since I can't tell what size the headset output is in the controller I'm trying to figure out what you would be able to hook up in place of the XBL headset.

Is the output big enough to hook up a regular headphone set or is it smaller like the ones used for cellphone mics?

Has anyone tried a cellphone mic or other headphones with XBL and does it work?

I haven't exactly researched it, but from what I can tell it appears to be a proprietary input. I haven't tried hooking anything else up to it as it's much more comfortable than any cellphone jack I've used, but I can say with about 75% assurance that the answer to your question is "No, you cannot use a third party input device with the Xbox Communicator as of right now."

Yes, and filthy I am on the beta forums at Xbox.com all the time, you should check in and post somehting,,,,I would cut and paste from some of your stuff here. But, ya there are alot of head phones you can use,,,go to the beta forums and you can seee just which ones have been tried, and yes FOR NOW none beta can look in on htose forums.

I'm not a big fan of the Xbox.com forums. I like my forums to be somewhat moderated and at least require a consistent login. There is some good info there though, and Brevity (albeit a little "odd") Is usually a pretty knowledgable poster (from what I've read anyway). At any rate, thanks for the correction.

Yes you can use a cellphone headphone jack, I do and mine works great and is lots more comfortable than the xbox one since i wear a hat when i play it just plugs right in your ear!!!! and plus I can lay down it is a lot more comfortable!!!

I am positive that u will see interact and companies put out a similar thing too so be on the lookout , but since it is a smaller jack no u cannot use walkman hadphones also since there is no way to talk u can just hear, also I know u can find an adapter for like 50 cents at radio shack that will allow u to plug your pc headphone/mic to your xbox too!!!!!

Oh an I am 100% certain that u can hook up more things besides a cellphone headset, (anything with a mic and headphones), just go to your nearest radio shack and bring your little plug in for the xbox and I guarantee u will find a adapter!!!!!

I bought a Jabra microphone/ear piece from Verizon wireless to plug into the communicator memory card thing. It works great and the mike is on the ear piece so nothing is hanging in your face. And it is a fact that it works, I've used it.
