I haven't even begun to explore the whole soul gem enchanting thing, but if you go to gamefaqs (http://www.gamefaqs.com) there is an enchanting FAQ, and I would imagine it's covered there.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

You might also try searching the forum for this as I have no doubt it's come up more than once.

Here is the general idea.

Soul Gems hold souls and the more expensive the soul gem the larger a soul it can hold. The harder the character is to beat, the larger the soul is.

With very few exceptions they can only hold souls of non-human characters.

In order to capture a soul you need to cast soul trap on the enemy and if it is successful there will be a white haze around them. You then kill the creature. Now the game will automatically go through all of the empty soul gems in your inventory and put the soul in the smallest soul gem that is large enough to fit the soul. Because of this, you want to carry a good assortment of empty soul gems. You don't want to have a rat get captured in a really expensive and rare soul gem.

Hope this helps

I can't remember, but most enchanters sell scrolls of Gem Feeder which will do the same thing as the spell.

Do you wanna know what the most powerful soul is? Its vivec with a charge of 1000. But you can only soul trap him before you complete the main quest.

Do you need him to beat the main quest?
