I want to know what you guys think , This is how I see it the debut of this console online war has just started and whoever wins this will get the most support from companies like Konami, Square(maybe) Koei , Rockstar Games,etc... Now we all know right now that Sony is just dominating right now in all categories, games sold, consoles sold, and 3rd party publishers, Do you guys think if X-BOX turns it around and wins this online battle they can turn the tables against Sony and gain the majority of there 3rd party publishers???

We all know that 3rd party publishers and most definetly Japanese publishers will take sides more with a console that has more established base and sells more!!!! I wanna hear what u guys think can X-BOX turn this around and dominate or will this be another turbogtraphix 16 and sega dreamcast fluke???

Another reason why I think it is important for X-BOX to win this and get more 3rd party support is because every first party title game that Microsoft has put out has been way below average ie. (FEVER)
I sure hope they can get it together with some solid first party releases but only time will tell that is why I think that this online console war is so important for Microsoft!!!!!!!!!

What Do YOU GUYS THINK???? :)

Microsoft is in this game to WIN.....their cash reserves are slightly bigger than Sega and probably on par with Sony....

The third party companies, if they're smart, will side with MS. As our game boxes become more like computers, and our computers get better for playing games.....as a third party, would you want to join up with a company the focuses on hardware (TV's, Walkman's, Computers, Playstations) or the company the writes all the software (and therefore could take your Xbox game and get in to run in Windows).

I'm wondering if there will be Xbox vs PC game capability...which actually might make some games better....MS Allegiance comes to mind....

I am starting to like xboxlive less and less.

I think you should just have to pay to get connected per year and anyone can have an Identity and use an xbox commmunicator on the xbox that is connected. I think it is dumb that you have to pay to get an Identity and use an xbox communicator for every single person who wants their own Identity and wants to use a communicator. I am not sure if I am gonna get it now.

And that is one of the main reasons that EA is not including any of their games for online capability for XBOX because Microsoft wants to control the servers!!!!

It sure would be nice to play madden on XBOX oh well I am playing on my ps2 anyway for free!!!! but it woulda been nice to see on xbox , now im beggining to think no ea games will be online for xbox!!!! actually it is looking like for sure we wont!!!

its ovious to anyone that XBOX isn't going away anytime soon.
they are betting sony and nintendo in virtually every categorey that counts (time/ratio of course)
i have never seen a Corp... wager and give so much just to get their foot into a industry's door.
my prediction is that by the year 2010......Microsoft will be #1 in the video game industry...

and for those of you that laught at that....ask your who would have guessed 15 years ago that nintendo would have been knocked off its pedalstool?

Do you think they will get that way puttin games out like fever!!!! what a joke!!!! its the 3rd party games that are the big hits, whereas Sony puts out continual plantinum selling 1st party titles!!!
I am not taking any sides but I am looking at the facts!!!

1 example gran turismo3!!!

I would tend to agree M. I have 2 boys that love video games and I think if I oder LIVE everyone in my household should be able to create an identity and play whenever. But I dont have the beta so I don't know if this is possible. If it's not I seriously will consider not buying it either.

AS for the console war. Microsoft is dedicated to making some money off the Xbox for quite sometime. Otherwise theywouldn't have spent all the money they have on advertising. PS2 has been out a lot longer than the Xbox, so of course they'll have more games and higher sales. Thats a given. Microsoft isnt too far behind though with PS2 having such a big headstart. And IF Nintendo would decide to join forces with Microsoft that would only be a plus.

That would be cool if microsoft and nintendo joined sides but i doubt it, but it would be cool since both of there headquarters are right here within a mile from my house in Redmond Washington!!!

MS is setting the standard for interactive/multi-player gaming. Their model of "single game server" will probably win. My guess, PS-3 will need to follow that strategy as well.

I really don't agree with mostly anything ssxtricky posts. Just one thing I want to make sure you know SSXTRICKY, Sony does not have an online plan that will let you play free.

Some good reading material (it hurts ps2 guys)

Online Comparison Chart (http://www.xbox.com/system/onlinespecsheet.htm)

I think Xbox Live is really going to show people how you do online correctly, and Sony's online will show you how to do it incorrectly.

pretty much my thoughts exactly!

So far (in BETALAND) this is NOT possible. guests dont get identities.

I am hoping they change this for the launch, and at least make it like *cough* AOL, where you get a couple of 'em at least.

I still don't know if I'm even gonna get Live...

Well, it's YOUR loss if you don't get Live -- I'm having a blast with the Beta and most people I know are too.

This thread is so full of stupidity and ignorance I dare not even attempt quote each instance and respond individually.

For those of you who think that one account should provide you with user names and connectivity for everyone in you house... allow me to respond as such.

First, MS isn't your buddy. They aren't the good guys, and the damn sure don't think of you as an individual. Don't feel bad though.. it's not a "microsoft" policy to be an evil empire. It's the standard business model

1) Sell something
2) Charge money for it
3) Make money selling it

period. End of story.
So it's more cost effective for them to charge every single person for an individual gaming account. Don't get on a "MS has enough money" high horse either, nobody has enough money. Welcome to capitalism.

At any rate.. you people want something for nothing. Even AOL doesn't give you more than one username at a time. You can have up to 7 screen names but only one can be logged in at a time. So to the utter moron who made that comparison, MS gives you an even better deal. One account holder and three guests can play. Also, in games like ReVolt you can race under whatever name you want. You can change your name every single time you play. The account name remains the same. Just like AOL you have a master screenname, and other screennames. I'm sure plenty of other games will allow you to use whatever name you choose. So for instance, you play a roleplaying game and your name is "XBoxorz101" you create a character named "Gandalf" and another character named "Loros" and another named "Shaydee" and you and your buddies take turns playing them (or whatever the developers have in mind)
Quit whining, look at it from the proper perspective and you'll see you are just asking for something for nothing.

Finally.. to the idiot who said "Not releasing games like fever" will MS take over the console online war. That's a stupid and irresponsible statment. I despised all the mario games on nintendo.. but I still owned a NES and loved all the games that I did buy. I hated Altered Beast, but I loved my sega. And I couldn't stand Sonic the Hedgehog.. but the Dreamcast was a kickass system. You don't have to buy fever, nobody does. Xbox LIVE Is ... not... out... yet.. The beta is. That means the online console war hasn't even begun for MS. Sony has Socom, nobody else has anything released yet. Beta is not a product, it's a development phase. That's like comparing Halo to Unreal Championship. Which one is better? ****ing Halo hands down, because you can't play Unreal Championship yet. When it comes out then you can compare the two. On November 15th you can compare Xbox Live to PS2. Untill then.. there is no online gaming for Microsoft because it's still in the developmental phase.

I don't have the patience to continue this post.

This has been changed. Premium service members have a feature called MSL (Multiple Simultaneous Logon). This is a feature for all AOL Broadband users. All 7 screen names can be online at the same time. Pretty cool. I got it.

Just a friendly FYI ;)

I have seen threads and threads and everytime i see a post from "Filthy Superman" he cracks me up (in the good way). I agree with almost anything he puts his mind intoo and the charasmatic way of replying to "whatever" threads.

KEEP IT UP MAN! YOU SURE CRACK ME UP EVERYTIME!

PS: If you have ANY relatives in the "female" form and over 21...HOOK ME UP BROTHER!

Just tell her that I am "tall, dark, and hansome"...with a british accent and a wallet that size of **cough**...**cough** inches....lol

Like the saying goes: "It's good to be me, but me is not good to be"
