Is my XBOX FRIED???

I was watching a movie with my XBOX the other day, when all of a sudden it went dead. No power, no nothing. I tried other outlets, but still no luck. I called Microsoft and they said they'd send another power chord, but if that didnt work, it would cost $100 to fix. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyways around not paying the money? I've never once had a video game system just die after less than a year's use. Thanks for any help yall can provide.

when did you get it maybe it's still under warrenty and anyway it sounds like a power supply failure if your brave you could replace it, i'd go xbox hackers website they show you how to open it without breaking and how replce certain parts

If its not under warranty do you have an option to purchase an extended warranty still through microsoft? I bought a 2 year extension for $49 bucks. I move my Xbox a lot to other peoples houses to system link Halo so for me it was worth it for the extra protection...
