View Full Version : Modem Setup w/Live
Alright, when i play on xbconnect...you know how if you have the 2 Nic Card set up (well i have a wireless connection, so it acts as another nic card), you can use a crossover cable to connect from one of the nic cards to your xbox? well is this the same for xbox live?
basically what i'm askin is if all the modem setups they have on xbconnect are the same way you can go online w/live?
later :)

The reason you have to connect a crossover cable from one xbox to another xbox has to do with the NIC (Network Interface Card) in the xbox. A crossover cable is used to connect two NICs together because of the pin out on the NIC. A crossover cable does just that, it switchs the pin outs so the out goes to the in on the other xbox.
Regarding xbox live, if you have broadband you would normally hook up your xbox to (1) your cable/dsl modem or (2) a cable/dsl router that connects to your cable/dsl modem. In eather situation the hardware, cable/dsl modem or cable/dsl router, will perform the crossover within the hardware. That is why you don't need a crossover cable for your PC when you hookup broadband to it.
