After seeing what everyone had to say, and thinking about it I went and looked for some hard fact number's. Who has sold how many in North America from November 2001. I got all of this from the magic box, and everyone I talk say's you can trust them so I will to:
November 2001-
GC: 662,560
Xbox: 722,177
December 2001
GC: 577,499
Xbox: 699,597
January 2002-
GC: 61,685
Xbox: 127,939
February 2002-
GC: 78,413
Xbox: 139,123
March 2002-
GC: 111,236
Xbox: 136,388
April 2002-
GC: 81,935
Xbox: 78,142
MAY 2002-
GC: 111,063
Xbox: 228,914
JUNE 2002-
GC: 213,100
Xbox: 264,618
JULY 2002-
GC: 137,790
Xbox: 154,204
AUGUST 2002-
GC: 128,000 (rounded)
Xbox: 137,000 (rounded)
If my math is correct, from November 2001 until August 2002, Xbox sold 2,688,102 units in North America. Same time frame GameCube sold 2,163,281 units in North America. That's somewhat over half a million units difference.
After seeing those, now I am not so worried about what is being said. Sure, MS is losing $76-$100 pre system sold. Though, with what money they make back on first party game and third party games they should get atleast $130 back from me by the end of the year. Heck some people I know, MS has gotten atleast $250 back from them already. Maybe in the end it'll even out.
