No, you'll need a decoder for 5.1..not just speakers.

Zion, I've been debating whether or not to get some surround sound speakers. I have about $95 and then I'll get another $20 after I cut someone else's grass. Would you be able to reccomed any that would work well with the xbox? How hard is it to set up? Doesn't Halo support surround sound?

Cool! I've never really had surround sound in my house. Say in Halo, someone came up behind you...wouldn't the speaker set up behind you make the sounds?

Do you already have a 5.1 receiver? You'll need about $300 to get started on that, then maybe another $400 bare minimum for good speakers.

Well I guess surround sound isn't an option for me. What about those $99 speaker made for Xbox? Shouldn't those be ready to use right after you buy them? Or do I need to buy that $300 dollar thing?

If you are looking for a cheap surround sound system with dolby dgital decoders you should look at Home Theater In A Box setups. The one I am going to get tomorow is this (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10013534&catid=19701&logon=&langid=EN&dept=10&WLBS=fs%2Dweb6&biasid=F8812BC4BAA84FD5B54B80B67A280B2F) Panasonic SCHT75 model. It is going to run me 675$ Canadian approximately. I am really looking foreward to playing xbox and watching dvds on it.
