Microsoft Plans Taiwan Xbox Facility
Reported By Dennis Day

Microsoft's vice-president of worldwide sales and operations, Orlando Ayala, has confirmed plans to meet with Taiwan premier Yu Shyi-kun to discuss plans for a new technology research facility. Reportedly, the new research facility will aid Chinese software developers in releasing future titles for Microsoft's Xbox, and localizing existing Xbox games for the Taiwanese market. Moreover, Microsoft hopes the company's plans to build the facility will ease political pressure from Taiwan's Fair Trade Commission, which has criticized Microsoft for allegedly engaging in anti-competitive business practices in the region. For reference, Microsoft has already confirmed plans to release the Xbox console in several Asian markets including Taiwan and Korea in the coming months.
