I think the Xbox only has a 10 Mb NIC so make sure your hub is a 10 Mb hub or supports autoswitching (10/100)
Don't use XBOX system link cables, they are just crossover network cables. Get some normal, or straight through network cables to connect all to the hub.......

All the machines hooking up to the hub that are going to participate in a system link, will need Cat 5 Ethernet Patch Cables. If you are going to hook 2 in a direct port to port system link, then you need a Cat 5 Ethernet Crossover cable.
A hub with autosensing is good. I have seen Compaq Ipaq hubs work in this situation. They cost about 45 bucks and you can get them at most Radio Shacks. I bought one for myself. They're small and portable. Four ports and you are read to rock Halo style.
