Ok..this is my setup. Modem to Hub, then Hub to 1st ehternet card. Then 2nd eternet card to Xbox via crossover cable. This setup has worked with both XBC and Gamespy, now why wont' it work with XBL?

I have entered my Static IP and DNS servers...but it still doesn't connect.

Your hub may not work with XBL. That's just a guess. Do a search for hubs compatible with XBL, I'm sure it's been covered in here a couple of times. Just not really sure where.

Well, my hub is not my problem. I'm now working by unhooking my DSL and going straight to the Xbox...but I've been trying with a second ethernet card. I'm running Windows Xp and a crossover from my second ethernet card to the Xbox. Any help?

I bet it's the crossover. You could try not using a hub as you don't need one. Just direct connect to your xbox. hope this helps a bit a bit!

I don't want to decive you or anything so listen man. Hubs are not good. Look @ it this way. I never use hubs so I am not exactly sure but I think you put your modem and plug for XBL into one hub correct? Well, this can cause MAJOR lag seeing as you have to leave your computer on. Routers are the way to go man!

So each computer is independent from the other.

But that's not my problem. I wanted to try it with 2 NIC cards, but it doesn't seem to work. So I've just been running a direct connection, which works fine. The only problem with that is that I can't be on the internet and XBL at the same time. But I'll live.

That is the only way that it would work with two NICs.

(ICS = MS Internet Connection Sharing)

My set up is cable modem to 1st computer NIC (running ICS in win 98SE).
2nd NIC to switch, from switch to XBox.

Everything ran perfect straight from the box.

Windows ICS connection uses Microsoft Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). ICS lets you share one Internet connection with multiple devices, but you must connect your Xbox console through your PC, and turn on your PC to play games on Xbox Live. Xbox Live is supported through Windows ICS for Windows XP, Windows Me, Windows 2000 Professional, and Windows 98 SE.

Note With a Windows ICS connection, you must turn on your PC to access Xbox Live from your Xbox console.

Turn off your devices (Xbox console, cable/DSL modem, and PC) before connecting any cables. For external modems, you should to disconnect your modem from its power source to turn it off.

Connect the USB out port of the cable/DSL modem to one of the available USB ports on the PC using the USB cable.

Connect the Ethernet out port on the PC NIC to the Ethernet port on the back of the Xbox console using the cross-over cable.

Turn on your cable/DSL modem, and your PC.

Configure Windows ICS to share your Internet connection. For more information, see your Windows documentation.

Once ICS is configured, verify that your PC can access the Internet.

Turn on your Xbox console, with no disc in the disc tray.
If your Xbox Dashboard has an option for Xbox Live, choose it. If not, play an Xbox Live-enabled game and choose the game option for Xbox Live play.
