www.xbox.com - XBOX LIVE - November 1, 2002

We're gearing up for launch and need your help to ensure
Xbox Live? is ready for the gamers all over the world.

An updated Connectivity Tester is on your Live-enabled
MotoGP?/Whacked!? disk. This is a built-in program that tests
how Live handles various network connections.
We need you to run it.

How to run the Connectivity Tester:
When you're done playing, pop the MotoGP/Whacked! disk into
your Xbox? and then leave it on the main launcher screen.
The Connectivity Tester will launch on its own, so you can
leave your console running overnight or for an hour or two.
This will help us make improvements and fine tune Xbox Live.

By running the Connectivity Tester after you play, you'll
help us fine tune the most intense, high-speed gaming arena.

Thanks for your help.

yeah, I got that one also. I've already ran the test once, but I don't know if it was successful. I wish it had more detailed instructions than "Your connection is being tested automatically"

If you were unable to run it before when it detects your Xbox idle for 5 min it will do a small download that will enable the test.

After waiting 5 min idle again it will start the test.

KraftSLU: If it you see that screen then it's working. The screen will not show uup unless it is able to detect a connection and your Xbox been idle for 5 min.

If your Xbox is hooked up through a router you'll notice that the Xbox is sending so much data out during these tests that for the amount of time the screen is on the lights on your router will rarely blink but stay steady.

well, I turned it on before I went to bed and when I woke up, my xbox was powered off. now either my roommate is an idiot (which is quite possible, though he knows not to touch my stuff like that), it it auto powered down after the test, anyone else have this happen?

Go into your settings, there is an option for the Xbox to power itself off after 6 hours of activity.

It's called "Auto Off' :)

I figured that much. Would the connectivity test have completed in that amount of time? It will still let me run the test but I'm pretty sure it's already completed it once.
