A question on the Broadband connection of the XBox.

1) Do you have to have a network assigned IP address on the XBox itself (assigned by your ISP) or can you use a router and NAT (network address translation) for the XBox connection.

2) What about firewalls - what port(s) and are they TCP or UDP are used for XBox Live gaming.

You can use NAT

and you do not have to open any ports.

Click here (http://www.xbox.com/LIVE/connect/routers.htm) for a list of routers that they know will work with LIVE.

Most require no work arounds, just plug the box into the router and your good to go.

The Xbox also accepts direct connection from your cable/dsl modem as well.
