Has anybody had any problems with connecting to Xbox live? I've had my kit since last wednesday and I still can't connect. Does anybody else have problems with XBL?

You can't connect at all? What's your ISP, you may need to get an IP adress from your ISP...some require that, if you have a router.

I've got my isp, dns, mac, etc etc. Every time I try and connect it says my DNS cannot be resolved and Xbox Live cannot be found. There are alot of people over at xbox.com with this problem. I still cannot find a solution to fix yet.

And no router? Have you tried to reboot your calble modem when u switch it from your comp to your Xbox. I know a bunch of guys on here had this problem...try looking around here. Change the date of your search...so you can go back a few weeks.

I'm just gonna get a router since it seems to be the fastest way to get hooked up.

Please give me more detail about your connection.

Is it DSL or cable? How are you connecting it now? Directly / switch / hub / router?

If your using DSL, dont forget you need a User name a PW for a PPPoe. Jus tlike you log in on your computer.

If you using cable, Try resetting the cable modem.

I'm using a cable modem with a direct connection but I think the problem is my BB provider. Charter. I've tried resetting the modem.

If your provider is Comcast, I know from talking with XBox Live support that XBL is having troubles with Comcast cooperating. I ended up picking up a router and everything works fine. I would definetly suggest calling XBL support though. They actually are able to work things out for you and help you resolve it fairly quickly.;)

My friend was Nik2deep is using comcast cable. For some reason it wouldnt connect when he used a switch. So he connected it directly and reset his modem and it connected. But some times he loses his connection. He talked to someone else with the problem and this is what he was told to do to make it work fine.

>autodetect

But manual insert your MAC address.

Even that doesn't always work (speaking from personal experience). XBL support went through pretty much every scenario with me, and the best we found us just using the router. Seriously...the router is the best way to go. You don't have to reboot your cable modem everytime you plug in the XBox and unplug it, and you always are able to connect.

Right a router is the only way, no undoing cable then redoing them. And Best Buy has the D-Link router cheap and it works great.
