Its got some type of instant on, I turned it back on one time, and it came back to the game with no loading of menu or game again. Only if same game is left in.

I had to disconnect the power to my xbox last night to move it. After pluging it back up, it brought up the clock screen and I had to re-enter the time.

I later saw that this was noted in the Xbox instruction manual.

I'm just wondering why it looses track of time but all the other information stored stays in tact?

No cmos battery?

Time and date are dynamic (i.e., they change frequently). All other settings can be stored on the hard drive.

I imagine they didn't include a battery because of the support issues it would cause when it eventually dies.

They could have put a capacitor on the box to handle brief power interruptions. They probably didn't include it to save a few cents per unit.
