i don't use router.
I directly connect my modem to my xbox and then to a cable outlet.
It says my IP address cannot be found.... have no clue what's wrong.
I was playing yesterday at 9 in the morning without any trouble.
do you know what number I can call to get help?
thanks

your cable service could be down if your not getting an ip. Try resetting your modem.

I know what's going on don't worry i will help you out.
OK:
1. If you have WXP i want you to go to your modem and then right click on it and then properties.
2. Then advanced options and as soon you choose it you'll see a box to check for Firewall and share you computer with others. *Check both of them*. Then click ok and then a little pop screen is gonna show up asking if you're sure, just click yes. Then try again connecting to xboxlive, i am positive man if you do everything that i wrote in here, everything is going to work out just fine for you. That's what I did and i've never had a problem with connection!!! : P

LISTEN ALL WHO HAVE COMCAST CABLE
Comcast changes the ISP numbers every week. The XBOX cannot recognize the change and will not connect. You must manually enter the new numbers into the xbox for it to work.
PROBLEM SOLVED.

That's how I found out "bud", but as you can see I am not the only one here who was CLUELESS about what to do.
