Hi folks. I'm hoping someone out there can help me or point me to a previous thread if one exsists.

I bought my Xbox Live Starter Kit last night. Spent 3 hours trying to get it to work but to no avail. The error message I keep receiving is:

"Xbox Live Not Found"

Here is my setup:

- Comast Broadband Provider
- Belkin 4-Port Router

Port 1 - Xbox
Port 2 - PC#1 WINXP
Port 3 - PC#2 WIN2000
Port 4 - PC#3 WINME

I plugged the Xbox into my network and everything checked out...cables, IP address, DNS...but then it still came up "Xbox Live Not Found".

So I go in and configure the IP Address, subnet mask, gateway, dns addresses just like I have my other computers set-up. Everything checks out same as before but still receive the "Xbox Live Not Found"

I tried putting the IP address I assigned the Xbox into my router's DMZ...did the whole power cycle thing and still get the error message "Xbox Live Not Found"

Also tried opening ports in the router but same result.

Lastly I tried a direct connection between my cable modem and the Xbox. Switched all the settings in the Xbox back to "automatic" everything checks out same as before but still I get the "Xbox Live Not Found"

If anyone out there can help this newlywed guy out, it would be great.

XBL has problems with Comcast. Your IP won't help since it is not a static IP address. My recommendation is to call XBox support. I did and got it up and running. Though, I had to buy myself a router so that everything would work.

Let me see if I understand you correctly (sorry if I'm being a noob).

Have my Xbox in Port 1 of the router. Set all the setting (IP, DNS) to autodetect/automatic and then try to connect?

If that is correct, then that didn't work either. It found the cables, IP address & DNS but still says "Xbox Live Not Found".

I also tried this with the direct connect (cable modem to Xbox) and the results were the same.

I guess the last resort will be to call Xbox huh?
