According to this well respected electronic site (which I frequent very often myself) the Xbox maybe finally making a profit.

News.com (http://news.com.com/2100-1040-976995.html?tag=fd_top) has posted good news for all Xbox fans.
I just hope it's the beginning of a brighter side as far as sales & numbers are concerned with MS's under-appreciated console.

Only time will tell. Though if you ask me I say the need to fire whomever is in charge of there Marketing and get someone in there who actually cares and knows about da videogames business and it's gamers. Casual & hardcore.

Microsoft should see its current quarter results lifted by the strong holiday season performance of its Xbox video game console and related game software, an analyst said Wednesday.

Although I seriously doubt we are going to see MS turn a profit with this christmas season (111 million is a big hole to crawl out of), what we can hope for is a surge in the sales of xboxes compared to PS2s and GCs that might get us some more 3rd party developer support.

There is no way in hell Xbox will effect PoS2's sales (sad to say) or "dent" them whatsoever.
Though they need to do something, cause Metroid Prime is single handedly pushing da GC ahead of da Xbox.
Not by much, but still. Xbox is hurting.

Is all about advertiseing. Plain and simple. MS sucks at it,..atleast for this industry gerne.:(

You know, MS might not have the best ad campaign, but they are good at doing stuff like this:

http://www.mgs2online.com/news/43.htm

That alone is good enough to make a big dent in PS2 vs. Xbox sales.

Ninja, I might actually care, but you were the one who made a thread saying that MS has a chance of turning a profit...

**Ninja loses a whole lot more than just one respect point... which puts him at a negative total**

Even if the site is bogus (which with the recent buying of Rare, the possible aquisition of Sega and the fact that this news has PS2 fansites up in arms, it really doesn't matter) there are still tons of other ways MS is asserting themselves. Maybe if you weren't so quick to run off at the mouth people might actually have a chance to discuss it instead of losing 'ninja respect points' (which at close of the World currency exchange market yesterday were valued at 10,000 NRP (ninja respect points) to one peso.

It is very rare for any console to earn profit so early in it's lifespan. The addition of 2 free games (JSRF + Sega GT) for the same $200 may increase sales, but Microsoft still looses profit from the sale of the console for such a low price. Microsoft is simply increasing it's installed base, and is gaining it's profit from additional game sales ON TOP of the packaged deal. So in turn, the XBox is not making the profit for Microsoft, but rather the games they are selling :D

I read about that and it seems like good news. I hate it how all analyist say that Micorsoft is loosing a significant amount of money on each Xbox. Microsoft has never said how much it is. I heard that the price it took to make an Xbox was very low.
