From what I have been reading we will be able to down load custom characters from XBox Live. I would like to model some so I am wondering which games supports this, where I can find info such as optinal poly counts, texture res., etc... Also how can I "post" these customizations to XBox Live.
Thank you for your help,
Nathan

(Tom Hanks Voice) Are you modeling? There is no modeling on Xbox Live!
No, you download characters, you don't make custom characters. All they do is give you the option to download... new skins for people basically. Its like an added bonus. You don't get to be a programmer... I think you somehow misunderstood what Downloadable content is....

My Xbox is sitting under my be, family Christmas present, so Im just going on things I've read in forums. And if its downloadable, its theoreticaly uploadable. Is there an online front end for xbox live where you can check stats etc...
P.S. Modeling characters has nothing to do with programming.

I for one am glad private skinning won't happen. I hate in PC games the fact that if I wanna join server XYZ that had a great ping and try to join only to find out I need to dl his 50+ skins that he has on his server just so I can join. Than after you dl all his skins and join and go through the crap you dl you find 10 of the characters are the same with a different colored hat and 5 of them are comic book guys ( for a war themed game ? ) and what not. Its a double edged sword though I guess because on the other hand I really enjoy " well made " custom maps and enjoy mapping myself. Half the time I spend more time mapping than playing the game.

If the system is implemented correctly by XBox Live and the software, the skins, mods, etc. in use would download to a temp directory on your harddrive. This would enable every one to swap mods, that way the host dosn't have to have them all either. This should be a quick dowload proccess as you only dowload what is in use. If a mod system were built into the game and server there could be a certification proccess. ie. you submit your customization to be rated, classified, etc. This way you could check whether or not the mods in this game have been certified, if they are "normal" mods ( not bunny rabbits and stuff ), etc. It is obvious that players enjoy developing customizations, why is it that software developers have not picked up on this. It could even be capitalized on; maybe you pay $10 - 20 bucks for a package that assists in the creation and upload of mods. There could even be prizes etc. for the best mods. This is a very clever way to develop and improve a game with minimal investment for the company. Im shocked that Unreal Championship has not done this for XBox, as far as I know it is the most modified PC game out there.
Long winded and opinionated,
Nathan
