The only one I KNOW for a FACT that works is Memorex 4X.
You can use Nero (Free demo available at WWW.Downloads.com)
or windows media player (V.9)

No Prob...You may have a problem copying those tunes if you have a older Xbox. Until M$ replaced my DVD, I couldn't copy
anything but CD's....

It has read every CD-RW I've thrown at it. From generic to name brand. It is CD-R's that are far and few. I don't think you will have a problem with any CD-RW's that you get.

Any good CD-RW should work. I use Verbatim, Sony, and Imation.

You have to format the cd, this will make the cd-rw a blank cd again.

You should always finalize a CD unless you are planning on making a multi-session disk. Since it's a CD-RW you can still re-write to it even though it's finalized. I don't know if that will help you writing music, but you should make a habit of finalizing anyways.

Oh, and you can't write MP3s on to the Xbox. It has to be an audio CD.

Gameman, your comment worries me.

I have had problems using burned CD-RW's with my Xbox, of any type, even the Memorex 4x CD-RW that a few people in this thread have said that it works perfectly. Could this have anything to do in relation to your comment, cause I bought my Xbox about 3 months after release.

..I got mine in late November...I was never able to copy burned CDs to my harddrive, no matter what CDRW/burning software I
used. I really didn't care, as long as my xbox worked. Then, in
early Nov. this year, I started getting DDE's on all the newest
xbox games. I sent it to M$ (I purchased the 1 year extended
warrantee $26.87) They repaired it & shipped it back. Now, I can
put all my burned CDs on my harddrive with no problem...
