My intial 3 months on XBOX is about up. Yesterday in the mail I got a letter asking me to buy the extended 1, 2 or 3 year warrenty for it. Is this something to consider or do you guys just pass this up and take your chances?

Ive never took it but thats me ... if it lasts a year with no problem i carnt see it haveing much more of a problem in the next year or so ... but its upto u in the end .. unless its a special offer where its really cheap like say 3 years more for an extra £30 - $30 or something then i would possibly take that ...

It costs $100 US for MS to fix it out of warranty. I would go with one year for $26.90

I got my xbox right after launch. Almost a year to the day I bought
it, I started getting DDE's all the time (But, just on the newer games)
I called M$ bought the extended Warrantee, Three days later, my
xbox died totally. If ya' got the extra $$, go with the warrantee...
Better safe than sorry....

I'm from Canada too. I guess with a population of 30 million people we aren't important enough to Microsoft (and many other companies) to be treated equally. Sorry about that rant. As Canadians we can not get that warranty.

I bought a two year extended warranty from the store I bought my Xbox from.

I'm in Canada as well, and after a month, nearly two actually of having my xbox without any problems, all this talk of bad drives and versions and all that other nonsense has got me a bit worried.

i'm headed out to EB tommorrow to see if they'll still sell me that extended warranty from their store. i hope so, because it'll just give me that peace of mind.

if not, then i'll just have to hope my xbox continues to work the way it does, without any problems.

I was one of the many who thought my original xbox was flawless til the dvd-rom crapped out and was stuck forking over the money to have it fixed! You also have to cover the shipping costs as well. In my opinion it is definitely worth it, but your xbox might be one of the lucky ones that last forever.
