What is the biggest upset for Xbox Live?

1) You can't talk to your friends unless you're in a game together
2) Unreal championship... lacks strategy and collects dust too easily
3) Doesn't support XB Sys Link. I wouldn't mind playing Halo online without a headset.



what do you guys think? That divergence error is pretty annoying too.

For me it was UC, maybe it was because I was so used to UT2K3's fast pace and UC just seems to slow for me *shrug* And I was not happy with the framerate, but I'm not even going to delve into that because that was discussed in another thread. I can't wait to play Midtown Madness, PSO, Star Wars KOTOR and CS Zero (if it ever comes out) and am excited for the Mechassault downloads coming the next few months.

im disappointed about ghost recon. i can hardly find a game anymore, like if i go into quick match, it like almost never finds a game. its so annoying. and the lag is really annoying. i get lag sometimes

Code Blue was taken :( and my other buddy decided to screw up his name and write Codegreen... so that looked dumb. I wish we could change our names. I'm sure there are a lot of people who want to chagne their names.

the reason for this is because if this was possible, people would log onto the server just to talk to their friends long distance for free...and hog up bandwith on the servers....$50 for a year of free long distance is a LOT cheaper than most people usually pay for long distance from a phone company

It's the exact same thing. But if I'm going to be around my XBox and have my headset... it would be beneficial to talk over Xbox live

As far as UC collecting dust is concerned, I dont agree with you. Its a great game. I for one have not noticed any framerate issues. I think that people who have are just victims of bad discs.

i just got UC today, its so awesome. but i went into a game, and the lag was soooooo bad. MS should do something about it. lol

I'm glad I'm on cable because I havent experienced any lag. Are you on Cable or DSL?

The more I think about it, the more i regret buying Xbox Live. Partly because of my ISP, I get massive amounts of packet loss that really makes playing online a drag.

I hardly ever play online, and that 80 dollar Live kit seems to have been a waste of money that could have been better spent elsewhere.

There isn't all that much I can do now, but that's just my opinion about it, seeing as how this thread is on the topic.

4. I thought Xbox Live was gonna be run on MSs own servers, why am I trying to host a 16 player(as advertised) deathmatch on a machine with 64 megs of total memory?...even though if its 12 at the most it is still playable.

6. Ghost Recon takes a long time to find a server sometimes
7. No Spectator mode in Unreal

MS has servers running for UC, ive been on some. if you go to optimatch, and put like minimum 2 players, maximum 16, it like gets you a list, and some are MS servers.

theres a spectator mode in unreal. just dont press fire when you die.

You guys bring up a few valid points, but the only problem that I have had (and can't work around) is that there are only 24 hours in a day. Personally, I love XBL and think that with a few tweaks here and there, that this is what online gaming should be.

i have no downside to XBL i think that its your own fault that u chose a gamertag u didnt want, and its also your fault if u alg cuz its your connection, learn the facts before u do all of this and youll be just as happy as i am :)

ghost recon is annoying. last night, me and my friend were trying to find games, but we couldnt find any. we did quickmatch, and it didnt get us into a game. then we went into optimatch, and no games came up. we tried for like 15 minutes until we finally found a game, but it only had like 2 people in it.

There is still some bugs that will be getting fixed soon. This is why I host. Note though when hosting a public game, get it set, then, when waiting for players...start the game up and then it will go into the game, say that it's over, then go back out into the lounge...and be surprised of how many ppl it let's in :confused:

my downsides are...

1)Not being able to see where your friends are in Ghost Recon

2)Finding games in GR is too difficult

3)Not enough content downloads. Where is the Unreal download? I think it's coming in a couple of weeks, but thats not soon enough.

4) When Public Enemy got disconnected from our nfl2k3 game. Man, I wanted to prove I could play better than I did that last game. I was already improved from the last game ie. I had 3 points on the board already with a field goal. But, since u got disconnected, it gave me the win, and a wins a win right?

5) it can get difficult to join a friends game in GR, it constantly says the game in nlo longer available and stuff like that.

6)joining a game in UC can be weird to, like it'll say your friends playing it, but there is not join friend option.

7) no instant messaging. I would love to send an invite to a friend that had REASONS to join my game, written or in voice.

ie: I want to invite Dark Enemy (public enemy2k3) to play GR with me and skoal and RudedogX and casper etc. well, instead of him just seeing "Jerred B has invited you to a game of Ghost Recon" maybe I could send him a VoiceMessage that went something like "Hey, sup Dark, Come and join my GR Room, skoal and rude and casper are here and rarin' to go". You know, something along that line.

Well, those are my complaints, but I still LOVE XBL, add me to your friends list.

I hope you meant to say Star Wars Galaxies, because KOTOR is single player only if I recall...

My downside so far has been the connection going on and off, and I am not sure if it is from my Cable Modem (doesn't go on and off while on the pc) or if it is a defect in my xbox. I have plenty of sucess finding games on Ghost Recon though.
