i bought this at the weekend, and was looking forward to some good single player squad action, but after planning your squads movements, then as soon as you go to a character view, you stand still, and the rest of the squad stand still behind you. WTF, all the good squad based i've played allow you to watch your squads movements, then jump in when ever you want, conflict desert storm, hidden and dangerous, hostile waters, etc, etc, i couldn't believe that this game dosen't have this feature, i expect it is good on xbox live, but i bought it for the single player side, took it back a day later. :(

That's too bad you feel that way and took the game back. I hope that wasn't the only reason you took it back. If so, I think you're missing out on a heck of a game for such a small issue. I found the single player aspect of the game to be very good. Personally, I'd rather play than sit around and watch it.

you can set waypoints for bravo team like I do and just run around killing people with the alpha team...its still fun.

I thought single player in GR was very good. The AI for your teammates was kinda crappy but it was still good. I like planting claymores by the doors and wait for people to come out and blow the sh*t out of them!

omfg, great. another a$$ that plays the game for 2 minutes and stops playing. yet, this a$$ doesn't realize that you actually MOVE THE SQUAD BY SETTING WAYPOINTS. [MANUAL] [COMMON SENSE] [EXPERIMENTING]. jeez, some people are soo impatiente that they just throw the game out without even playing it long enough. if you hate the game, then shut up. nobody wants to hear your whining.

he just can't handle the heat. Why let them do the work for you? Go out and get some kills. Use Bravo to get the enemy's attention and then flank them with Alpha. So what if 2 of them follow you, that way they got your back... and believe me you'll need it. I honestly havn't had this much fun with a game since halo.

Yawn, right lets get it straight then, I had ghost recon for 3 days, I finished the downed pilot mission, so hardly played it for a few minutes, also I’ve played many other squad games, and know whats expected of them.
I know all about setting way points, it’s why I bought the damn thing, and this is what I’m getting at, in the single player game, when you go back to the main view screen, after setting way points for each of the teams, and the stance they take when they get there, most decent squad games, show the squad members carrying out your instructions, you know moving to the way points, themselves, with ghost recon, you leave the planning screen, and you’re a squad member, who just stands there, and the other squad members stand behind him. If the other members of your team headed to the way point them selves, that would be something, but they don’t, and when you flick through the characters, they each in turn, stop what they are doing, and stand still. Some say, I’d rather play then watch. Classic statement, you just spent 40 bucks on a squad game, with no squad, just 6 continues (one dies, switch to another, 6 attempts, 6 lives, what ever you wanna call um) at killing all the baddies, to complete the mission. I’d rather play then watch, so planning your squads movements, how they react, what they do, and so on, isn't an important part of the game, just getting to point a, killing what, and who you can is. I don’t think that’s what the developers had in mind, if it is then why not make a fps. What ghost recon fails to do, is give the feeling of being in a squad at all in the single player game, I bet it’s a different story on multiplayer, unless you come across those who think it’s funny to shoot their own members in the back of the head, bet there’s a few on here, who after a while will be unable to get a game, cos they have no idea what a squad games really about.
ones that get it right,
hostile waters
hidden & dangerous
rainbow 6
swat 3
confilct desert storm
I may have read your post wrong (ADD and all) but...
You are the squad/mission leader. Therefore, sitting back and waiting while they carry out their orders takes you out of that position and really puts you in some hummer or other command vehicle on the side of the action until you decide you want to play an active part. I think that kind of defeats the whole purpose.
I do agree, however, that say I put my squad on hold, they should hold while I personally move up and accomplish what I want instead of following me like a crew of morons.
Haven't played the other games you mentioned, except for desert storm, which IMO is pure garbage.

I played the single player version and I thought it was pretty good the way it was. It's fun having the computer control the other characters. The computer was much better than me at the game though.:( I feel embarrassed for saying that. I just need to improve my skill for I can get it and Live.:)
