There hasn't been any news on BF1942 for awhile. It is a great game on the PC and 32 vs 32 battles are intense. If does come to Xbox it had better support Live.

The game was really hyped near the Xbox Launch but it's just slowly vanished, but according to EA, it's still set to be released on the Xbox, they just don't know when.

Digital Illusions said they are making it and it's supposed to come out Q3 2003. They are also developing Rallisport Challenge 2.

Ya, I heard it was coming late 2003, and of course it will have live support. EA's knows that the game is worthless without it.

I own it for the PC. Without online it's nothing plain n' simple.

I think EA would have to be crazy not to put live support in the game. Of course I still think they are crazy for not putting live support in the sports games:confused:

Flood, what game are those people from in your sig? I've seen it before but I can't remember what game that is.

Battlefield 1948?????? heh study your history fool! jest kiddin.. But really when this game comes hopefully they can get rid of some bugs from the PC version, and IF it is online I doubt 32 vs 32 battles will be possible, I'd imagine it would be more like 16 vs 16.

In my way, EA is not gonna do a straight port to Xbox. Maybe we will have a plenty new stuffs just like Return to Castle Wolfenstein...

Actaully its super dodge ball on NES. They also made a SNES version with robots, but it sucked and its in japanese. I think they also made it on turbo graphix 16.

You could be USA, RUSSIA, CHINA, INDIA etc.

And the last round you played your evil twins.
THere was even a back yard mode where you ran around like a free for all and played dodge ball. Best NES game ever? You bet

As far as BF1942 goes, ive played the PC demo and loved it. If it doesnt support XBL than dont bother releasing it. The game rocks and would be a hit on XBL. But to get the MS servers to handle 64 players is another obstacle.

Nuttin beats 64 player, but 32 aint sooo bad, 16 would be pushing it.

I've heard Microsoft say that future games can be expected to support much more people, but I think this is up to the game developer and not Microsoft.

Most likely a few developers will make mmolg, and Im sure and microsoft first party developers will make some.

I've got it for the PC, too. I get server errors in multiplayer so I only play single. GOTY imo. BF: 1942 and Vice City.

Dang that's a drag. You have gotten the 1.2 patch?

I have it on PC too and its fan-freakin-tastic.

Its not quite as good as Halo (multiplayer) but its close.
Ive been on servers with 60 other people... its amazing.

If it dosent support Live it is worthless. EA would be complete idiots to bypass Live.

I would disagree. If Halo were XBL enabled, I would still choose BF1942 over it. There's more to do in BF multiplayer.

No its not coming anymore... this is from the IGN mail thing

Battlefield
I haven't heard any news on whether Battlefield 1942 is going to come out on the Xbox still or not. What I have seen is that EA took the Xbox icon off the bottom of the page of the official site. Now I don't know why it would be taking so long for them to release it unless they are trying to put the expansion pack into an all in one package with the original. If you could please find out I know that the Xbox community would be greatful for any news available. Maybe a new update for the site too, that would be great.

Thanks again,
-Nathan

Kaiser H Wangoon Orta says: The sad truth is that Battlefield 1942 is NOT coming to Xbox. EA is not a big supporter of Xbox Live, and Digital Illusions CE was kinda iffy about actually being able to port the game to Xbox. This led to the game getting cancelled. Yes, you can cry now.

EDIT: http://xbox.ign.com/mail.html

I just read about that. I will continue to refuse to support EA for hat they did to the Dreamcast and what they are doing to Xbox.

Weird! I just watched The Electric Playground and they just did Battlefield 1982 for the PC on their Reviews On The Run. I've never played the game, but even though I'm not a multiplayer fan, I still think the games looks cool.

You wrote Battlefield 1982, I don't think there was a battle on the year we were born.;)

ww2 ended in 1946 not 1945. the japanese surrendered in 1946. remember folks, there were more enemies than germany, and more to ww2 than the holocaust.

But really, those were all just typo's, we all know the title of the game is Battlefield: 1942. You seem to be diverting attention from germany in your statement...don't know why. I don't recall anyone ever saying anything about the countries that actually fought in WWII.

yeah i bet you needed it ;)

it's just that i read a post saying ww2 ended in 1945 (common misconception) and decided to educate the xba public

that got me thinking on other ww2 misconceptions, that germany was the ONLY AXIS POWER and THE ONLY IMPORTANT THING THAT HAPPENED WAS THE "HOLOCAUST" so i put them in too.

sure it was OT but i felt it was important

btw i am a ww2 geek so dont try and argue

It's a damn shame if it is really canceled. I refuse to upgrade my PC every time a new game comes out, so not for me. Also, this game was probably about 40% of the reason I bought my xbox.

EA has stated at least once (sorry no link) that they would not be developing for XBL. I'm sure that w/ the success it's had they might change their mind, but I've personally given up on BF: 1942

Maybe BF:1950? Chosin reservoir anyone?

Of course they don't usually make games on wars we didn't outright win.
