My Xbox still says 50000+ blocks free, and I have quite a bit of crap saved on there...anyone actually use up enough to make that total change?

I'm pretty interested in this as well. I'm in the process of ripping CDs to my Xbox. And I'm curious if anyone out there has made a dent in the available space on the Xbox? Thanks!

I heard that the Xbox has a total of 312,500 Blocks. I still try to keep my harddrive as empty as possible.

Don't be so conservative. This isn't a Piece of chit memory card.

my xbox is hacked with a 120 mb hd. The partition that stores the games and music is the same as the origional though. I have over 90+ different games saved. A couple of those are multiple seasons on sports games. About 10 albums stored as well and still have over 50000+

I dont think microsoft put it in the hud to actually record how much data you have on your xbox, because its probably impossible to fill untill Xbox 2 is out.(Going out and renting all the games Xbox has by then, and saving data will probably do it.) A sign of laziness or Im just wrong the world will find out only if you prevent forestfires!

wanna fill your harddisk up? pretty darn easy nowhere near impossible.

make a soundtrack of say 40 songs.

copy all of them to a new soundtrack.

copy all of them to a new sountrack.

could be done within minutes if you have a soundtrack with over 100 songs like me.

:D hope i helped someone

well lets do some math...mem cards hold 500 blocks (approx, usually 512 or something), and that is 8 megs...so do math someone, cause I cant...:D

Your going to need about 20 Cds of at least 14 songs each to fill that puppy up, unless its a Ramones cds, youll need 40 songs on each cd.

you saying i need that much to fill the rest of mine up? or a whole new xbox?

cause mate ill go through what i have on mine ok.

every metallica album -kill em all, ride the lightning, justice for all, puppets, garage inc (2 cd), load, re-load, black album, bay area thrashers (rare album), S&M.

every offspring album- the offspring, ignition, smash, ixnay on the hombre, americana, conspiracy of 1.

87 techno songs

25 rap songs.

57 mixed rock songs.

19 teeny bopper.

greenday internatyional superhits.

every rammstein album - herzeleid, sehnsucht and mutter.

plus more for a grand total of 25 soundtracks.

149148 BLOCKS.

603 tracks.

(not even half the harddisk filled up.)

and thats a hell of a lot more than 20 cd's mate.

i love putting music on my xbox drive. each disc is around 3,000 Blocks, so if you got 50,000 blocks thats like 15-20 CD's, isn't that much for an 8gb hard drive (isn't that the actual size?) so yah sorta ****ty actually if u ask me, i have had it for 2 weeks and already 1/2 the harddrive gone with 10 cds?!?!

If the memory cards have 512 for 8 MB, then it makes it approx 524,000 blocks on the XBOX, but not all of that is available to use for the harddrive. Perhaps 3/4's of that, leaving a 2 GB partition for the XBOX to use, so 393,000 for use I would assume...

Stormlord

The 8 gigs is still pretty big. It'll probably get filled when they start realesing a lot of X-Box LIVE games with lots of downloadable content. OH yeah baby, Mech Assault is supposed to get new levels and mechs in Febuaury.

EHWfedPres
01-08-2003, 02:35 PM
Yes, perhaps with downloadable content, it will start to fill up. Putting 60 songs on the harddrive would only take up between 200 and 700 megs, depending on the length, so thats nothing to worry about.

You guys are just aiming to crash the damn thing. Still don't trust Bill Gates? Would you try and load up your hard drive on your pc with useless crap just to see how much of it can take? I like to keep it clean and defrag it once in a while (not that i can do that on my X-Box though). Gimme downloadable content any day... Just keep room for the better stuff.

Each song is ripped into the xbox at 128KBps that is a very small file! and it still sounds good!

Did you even read any of our posts? Apparently not becuase none of us have said anything about filling half of the harddrive. I myself have used 10780blocks on games alone. I have 23 soundtracks with a total of 77553 blocks used.

All in all I have used 88,333 blocks on my xbox's harddrive. It still says 50,000+ blocks available. Same thing it said at launch.

I guess my earlier estimate in this thread was way off.

I know that this is Off-Topic but this is what I heard the EB employees talking about yesterday. I will say that I think this is very wrong.

One employee was calling people telling them about one person he knew with an Xbox and how he modded his system. He most more main memory, and he put a 120 gig harddrive. He had every Sega Genesis, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Xbox game running on his Xbox. He was selling it for $50.

I just couldn't believe what I was hearing and he was calling people up with an Xbox and ask them if they want it. I hope this isn't happending everywhere.

Actually I would believe it. Some dude 'round here has a model xbox like that. I am not sure about all of the oldschool games but he does have a bigger hard drive.

That would be cool to put N64 games on it.
