View Full Version : What's your Xbox setup?

Kamshaft

My Xbox setup is...

- 27" Zenith Flatron TV, Xbox plugged in the S-Video port.
- Sony Dolby Digital Amplifier.
- Advanced AV pack, with optical out of the Xbox into the amp (via Dolby Digital).
- Woofer box beside the couch.

The sound quiality is simply amazing here...video quality is great, but could be better (HDTV)...LOL

Tell us your Xbox setup, good or bad. (-;

Well I can't tell you the exact way it's setup..but what I can tell you is that I have a 48" TV w/ Dolby Digital Surround sound and the XBox is hooked up to an extra 32" Flatscreen TV :P

I haven't had a console since the PS1 and I only bought that while I was in college and didn't have a computer. Sold it the day after I got my pc built.

The xbox is the first console that really sparked an interest in me and so I bought it and couldn't be happier. The one thing that really makes this system glow is a kickass way to show it off though. After a long summer of building my home theatre I can finally relax while playing the xbox in pure digital form. I must say that I am floored by the detail of this thing. Worth every penny and I hope others continue to support it.

My setup:

NEC LT150 DLP projector capable of HD 1080i if any games ever support it.
110" 16x9 screen
Pioneer 660watt DTS ES receiver
200 watt powered sub ( can't go louder than that in my apt complex. darn neighbors)
2 bass shakers mounted to the couch. Mmmmm vibrations :D
Top it off with a pitch black room and black velvet courtains for aesthetics. ;)

Problem is that I don't want to leave the house. Maybe that isn't a bad thing.

I have a Toshiba 32in. TV, Sony 500watt reciever and 15 in sub, with 5.1 surround Sony speakers. Running through SVHS input.

Also run in my office through a Toshiba 27in ;)

My Xbox is currently sitting on a shelf in Walmarts Layaway Department.... I have to wait one more week then I will have enough to pay it off and take my Green Eyed Lady home... unfortunatly I will not have enough money for any games yet,,,, but I think I will visit Blockbuster and rent a game or two to tide me over.
Eventually I will be rocking with my Xbox hooked up to my Kenwood minisystem and on my 27" Sharp Television... I cannot wait.

Laters All,

Stephen...

Not to pick on you too bad, but, I already created a post like this a month and a half ago...we had several people discuss their set ups...but, that's okay...because it's probably a good idea to re-visit this since most of us have our XBoxes :D

I have a 36" Toshiba TV with S-Video inputs
Advanced A/V Pack rockin' the video and audio - incredible picture and sound

In the works:

Bose surround sound system :D I can't wait!!

Lynxfx -- your room sounds really similar to mine.

I've got the same projector but with a 120" screen.
My walls and ceiling are painted black and the floor has black carpet.

I used to have pictures on the web but *&^%$ Charter is blocking port 80 on my server. <grrrrr>

Hugh_Jass,

Yeah I just got the pj about 2 months ago. I'm still putting the finishing touches on the room though. I live in an apartment complex so I didn't have much to work with but at least it is the third floor and it has cathedral ceilings. This projector sure is nice though isn't it? And to think, I was only going to use this for movies. :) Instead I got life sized characters from DOA3 in my house.

Game On!!! :D

PS, when it is time for you to replace your bulb check out dell's business site. They are always having a 20% off sale and they carry the lt150 lamp. Prices now are around $270 shipped and I hope they continue to drop by the time I need one.

my dad is building a patio so a month before getting my xbox i was naturally bored out of my mind so I took some left over scraps of wood and I made a small table painted black and a green X where my xbox would soon sit. its pretty small but gets the job done. I have a crappy tv and will have to wait a while to get a new one on account of spending all my money on xbox games and of course smokes to pass the time till XBOX.:D

Lynxfx --

Do you have a link for the $270 bulb? That's the cheapest price I've ever heard of but I can't find it on their site.

Thanks.

LynxFX

Hugh_Jass

Here is the link NEC LT150 lamp (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.asp?Sku=509659%2D4&spagenum=1&category_id=240&keyword=&mnf=NEC+TECHNOLOGIES&prst=0&prEnd=0&mnfsku=&orderby=&SearchType=AND&customer_id=04&Pageb4Search=&page=productlisting%2Easp&icompatid=&instock=0&refurbished=)

Right now it is $288.96 but they are always having sales each month. Keep an eye on their site. Just over a month ago they were $475.

I am putting 50 cents in a jar for every hour I use my fp. With the xbox now I'm practically putting in five dollar bills at every sitting. :) It is my lamp fund.

Hugh_Jass
11-27-2001, 08:42 AM
Thanks for the link!

I have $7/week automatically deducted from my paycheck and put into a special lamp bulb bank account. That strategy should have been sufficient when I was just using the projector for movies. Now that I'm using it for XBOX I'll probably need to revisit my plan. :)

How much life do you get out of one of those bulbs?

l Maximus l
11-27-2001, 10:53 AM
Dang, dudes....I think I will just stick with my 36" Toshiba :D It appears that those amazing projector style TVs are a little expensive. Though, my hat comes off to both of you.

Hey, Hugh...could you attach a link to your site that has pictures of your set-up? It would be great to check it out again...It's apparently time for me to drool once again :D

Hugh_Jass
11-27-2001, 11:46 AM
You get 1000 hours per bulb. They used to be $500 each so $275 is a bargain, guys! :)

Charter Communications knocked my website off the net by blocking port 80 on my server. I've heard that they are no longer blocking that port so I'm going to try and get my server back up tonight.

l Maximus l
11-27-2001, 01:17 PM
Hey, Hugh...you gotta provide that link again of the pictures of your gaming set-up. I need a drooling fix :D

LynxFX
11-27-2001, 05:19 PM
Yes $280 is definately a bargain now. Hopefully we will see them go down even further with the release of the LT150z and LT75z. They all use the same lamp as well as put out 200 extra lumens. I think we should be able to push our lamps to around 1500 hours as long as you aren't one of those people that turns on the pj and then 10 minutes later turns it off. :)

Just checked my lamp usage and I'm only at 58 hours. I thought it would be a lot worse than that. :D

I'll try and get some pictures of my setup if I can borrow the digital camera from work. I still have to get one of those.

Hey, man...you can get a sweet TV made by Phillips...I forget exactly what the serial number is on it, but, it's a 25" Phillips TV...it's silver instead of black and the screen is almost flat. Another characteristic is that it has the speakers on both the right and left sides of the screen. Check it out...I saw some on sale for $249.99 down from $299.99...and if you get that sale, you can fork some money towards an XBox game :D If you want a 27", Phillips makes that same TV in that size, too, but, it's obviously more expensive. Just make sure it atleast has Component video connections...but, what you really want is S-Video so you can use the Advanced A/V Pack from XBox...it makes a huge difference! I hope that helps :D

look at you all with your 61" screens and your fancy xboxes. When you are marveling at the beatiful graphics and amazing gameplay, I get to sit here and wait until march for the UK release. Even then, I only have a 24" inch screen.
