View Full Version : How To Conserve Your Ammo

Here's a little tip that I wasn't sure if you guys knew about. It seems like sort of a glitch in the game, but sure comes in handy. With this you will NEVER run out of ammo.
All you have to do is hit the reload button before you empty your clip. So stop when you have about 3 or 4 shots left and reload. You will reload to a full clip without losing any ammo! So you can reload forever!
Hope this helped those who didn't know. And to the rest that did know.....disregard this. ;)

Does it work for the OICW's grenade launcher?

I dunno. Does the grenade launcher fire more than one shot per clip? If so, then probably. I haven't played with the OICW, so I'm not sure.
Grenades, normal grenade launchers, anything with 1 shot per clip.....this does not work.

I'm pretty sure this doesn't work. As an example, let's say you're using a sniper rifle with 10 10-round clips. Assume you fire off 7 shots from your first clip and then re-load. It will say you have 10 rounds in the current clip and still have 10 clips. The only catch is that your 10th clip only has 3 rounds in it. I noticed this on some of the single player elite firefight missions where you have a ton of enemies coming at you. As you start running low on ammo and hit re-load, you will notice that late in the game you only have a few rounds in each of your remaining clips. Maybe it is different on multi-player, but I have never come close to running out of ammo in a multi-player game (well, unless it was grenades only).

Skoal's right on this J Dub! Sorry man, when you reload before the clip is empty, it may say that you still have 10 clips, but if you reload again after those previous 4 remaining shells, then it will go down one number. The game does keep track.

Actually, isn't this the exact same way as they have the ammo system set up in halo?

I don't think so. If I remember correctly, everytime you load a clip in Halo, it is a full clip (unless it is the last one). Towards the end of some of those firefight missions in GR, I would load a clip that might only have 2 rounds, fire both, and re-load with a clip that might have 4 rounds. Kinda like the way it would work IRL.

Ahh that's right. I didn't even realize GR kept multiple partial clips. But then again, I am usually quite conservative with my OCIW ammo, so I've never run that low :D

Hmmmmm, ok if you guys say so. I've never had that happen to me. Probably just never come close to running out of ammo. But they should tell you how many full clips you have. Jeez. Forget my "hint" then. LOL

Try some of those elite firefight missions. See how low you get on one of them firing an automatic. :p

Who uses an automatic? I keep my baby on 1 round dispersals, unless I am anticipation a really really closed quarter combat, at what point I crank that baby up to 3 round dispersals.

spoken like a tru playya pimp.........auto is for non-aiming n00bs

hehe, very true. That and firing off an entire clip at one enemy is just as good as standing up and waving a flag while screaming "Shoot me! I'm right here!" to all his friends you haven't shot yet.

Nope, played through recruit some time ago. In the elite missions right now, and running out of ammo is never the issue. Getting shot in the head is.

J dub i know what your saying. But as the match continues and you reload often you will eventually end up reloading your gun with less and less bullets in each clip. Try playing a large level like river without extra ammo by yourself.

Too much coffee is hard on the stomach. I like to supplement with caffine pills for those late night study times. Bad thing is that they make you micturate (proper name for urination).

Drink Mountain Dew before coffee. It's very high in caffeine. Good for that much needed buzzzzzzzzzzzzz! ;)
The only better solution is Jolt Cola, but I think that stuff might be hard to find. LOL

Mt Dew and Jolt helped me pull many a allnighters in college. I never touch jolt anymore, but Mt Dew is still one of my favorites! Damn that stuff is addicting!
