With Halo 2 and DOOM 3 coming out for XBox Live several months from now, can anyone possibly imagine playing any other game on XBL?

Seriously...Will anyone play Mechassault with the arrival of these? I hardly believe so.

Will anyone play Ghost Recon anymore? I think it's possible, only because it's a very unique FPS experience and extremely tactical, whereas Halo 2 and DOOM 3 are not expected to carry on tactics to the level of GR (excluding CTF and the such).

Perhaps people will play sports games since Halo 2 and DOOM 3 are not exactly sports.

Unreal Championship will probably kiss XBL goodbye especially if there is no patch to increase the framerate.

What are your thoughts?!

yea...once doom 3 and halo 2 hit, UC is as good as dead. as far as Ghost Recon, i think there will still be people playing, but the numbers will noticable drop.

on the same thought....do you think people will still play Ghost Recon after Counterstrike is released??

Actually, the only game that I will make a direct switch from, as well as the other boys, will probably be to Raven Shield, as that will be out first, I believe.

And Maxy, you're right on point with that, as well as Raven Shield and Wolfenstein to add to that list, they will definetely get me away from those "sub-par" FPS' that will keep the DDC name nice and strong

Don't forget about Raven shield guys. That should be very similar to Ghost. We'll soon see though hopefully.

Welll the way i see it the games that we have now are gonna collect dust when the others comes out. I prolly will play gr and mechassault for the heck of it. Games im get getting are castle wolfenstine, raven shield, counter strike, halo2, doom3. Id rather have a variety of games so that i never get bored.

From the movies I've seen from GS, this game should not only be similar to GR but many times better (seems to run more smoothly and graphics are alot more crisp). One major difference though is most the action takes place indoors as opposed to outdoors in GR, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

i've got wolf and halo 2 preordered.... screw the other online games... raven shield does look good, might have to actually pick that up. And i'm getting brute force (i know its not a live game, except for downloads and stuff) but with those games, i doubt i buy any other games for awhile. I'll be busy playing some good games.

Some of the most fun I've had in GR is in close quarter combat since the tension level becomes raised. So I won't complaining about the indoor aspect of this game at all. Looking forward to it tremenduously.

Anyways, THeres always going to be people playing any given game at any given time. THeres still people playing Quake1 on the PC.

I used to think the same thing whenever a new popular pc game came out. Yet there are still people that play Quake 2 XCTF religiously. And that has been what, six years?

The numbers will go down but people love going back to the classics. Just like when Halo 2 comes out I bet there will still be alot of people on XBC playing Halo, crazy as they may be. :p

Since Doom 3 isn't really going to be a massive online game (4 max per game) I don't think it will have as big of a following as say Halo 2. That could all change once we get details of what DIII will fully support. Plus you have the added competition of DIII on the pc with mods and a constant flow of new maps. Halo 2 however doesn't have that competition so will maximize their sales on the Xbox.

I'm looking forward to Halo 2 and will probably play that pretty much exclusively on Live. (if they don't muck up the pricing plan next year) Doom III will be on the PC. But I will still go back for a game of GR or Whacked.

One of the main reason that I bring this up is what I've seen on XBConnect. Seriously, the only game people play is Halo...far more than any other game that is system link compatible. I just think Halo 2 and Doom 3 are going to destroy any other XBL game out there.

Raven Shield and Wolfenstein certainly are exceptions. I love shooters :D

By the way, when is Rainbow Six - Raven Shield slated for the XBox? Any news on this yet? It's got to be far before Halo 2 and Doom 3.

I hardly think releases of new bloclbusters will "kill" anything

People still play half-life online because it's a great game. It came out in 1999 and its still going strong. The original unreal tournament, even age of empires still has a strong online base.

I think there will always be SOMEBODY playing these game for one reason or another.

That because UT takes the most skill to play online. Best FPS on the PC? You bet your ass

It's says September on almost every site that I've looked for. I would imagine that Halo2 will be out Nov. 15th, to stay with the whole anniversary thing, but we'll see.

I can never wait if there's a live option. I just finally finished up my dossier in GR a few days ago. I might not have even started it if I hadn't gotten clued in to the benefits of the other weapons.

I feel like I'm following Shannon around. I'll stop now.

I already am thinking about trading in UC unless they make Auto Aim switchable per person instead of having it on for everyone or off for everyone. I had fun playing it, but there are too much idiots playing it. I will definitely be keeping Mech Assault, I can play offline just as long as I can play online, it just doesn't get old for me.

Halo 2 is going to be amazing though, I am just hoping they don't have to downgrade the graphics to make the game run good online, that would suck. I am hoping by that time we don't even have lag, I mean I have heard the Gamecube online players saying they don't notice much lag, and they are playing with 56k. An all broadband service should definitely be lagless. Hopefully they set up SERVERS! I know they have a couple, but before I bought Live I thought all games would be hosted by Microsoft? I am really hoping they are working on getting the whole service on their servers, instead of having people be the servers.

Hopefully Live gets more attention from game developers making multiplayer games, any multiplayer game should be Live capable in my eyes.

Heh, I have strayed from the topic, so to sum it up, yes, Halo 2 and DOOM III will own me for hours and cause many days of staying home from school.
