Is the Xbox DvD player region 1 only? A friend is going to give me some region 3 DvDs and I am not sure if they will work.

thanks

I know it is region locked, don't know to what region but they probably won't play unless you have a modchip.

Depends on where you buy your DVD kit. You can import a region 2 DVD kit, plug it in your Xbox and it will be coded as a Region 2 DVD player. You can't undo this though. As soon as you connect a DVD kit it hardcodes the Xbox to that particular region.

To play those Region 3 dvds you will need a region 3 dvd kit and a virgin xbox (ie hasn't had a dvd kit attached). Or you can buy yourself a region free dvd player, either stand alone or software for your pc.

I heard of something called Region X, it tricks the XBOX into thinking it's playing a region(x) DVD.

You put it in, then swap it out for your fake region DVD. I dunno if it did make it out any other details tho.....

i recon a virgin xbox is an xbox that hasnt had a network run through it.

think about it. when an xbox is system linked it shares info with another.

therefor all you xbox's who havnt had a sys link session dont know what yur missing ;)
