DEAD OR ALIVE WOBBLES TO THE BIG SCREEN!

It had to happen. Those DOA girls are getting far too much attention - cinema is the next logical step - plus, DOA4 info inside!

According to movie trade newspaper, the Hollywood Reporter, the Dead or Alive videogame franchise is coming to the silver screen in a film described as Charlie's Angels meets Enter the Dragon. Blimey. Of particular interest to game fans, Tecmo's US marketing manager Tony Tarpey revealed that this will coincide with the release of the next generation DOA beat-'em-up, Dead or Alive 4, in Autumn 2004 - not to be confused with DOA: Code Chronus.

Impact Pictures, which has been busy signing up Driver and Resident Evil 2 recently, has put $30 million dollars into the movie production coffers. According to Hollywood Reporter, the movie will focus on four 'female' fighters (funny that) and stay within the realms of, erm, reality.

Impact Picture's Paul Anderson stated: "It's a fun popcorn film with action and humour." And highly teen-targeted, which makes us ponder why Tecmo has clamped down so heavily on 'nude' character hacks within its Xbox Xtreme Beach Volleyball game.

This intended-to-be PG-13 film will be set in Iceland and introduce the cast of voluptuous characters, fluent in various martial arts styles. The plan, according to Impact's Paul Anderson, is to remain faithful to the essence of the game but create an original story that plays to a broader audience.

And fans of DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball will be pleased to hear that there will be a sequence of "babes in bikinis", according to Anderson.

Expect the next generation DOA 4 to be based roughly around the film, although we couldn't get confirmation of this.

We are getting something really hot in Autumn 2004.
