Does anyone know if xbox live or xboxconnect or gamespy compress the data that is sent over the net, although it could take up some processing power on the xbox, which is y it would be nice to do on a computer, it sure would be nice to save bandwidth, does anyone know?

haha, by compression i mean kinda like a .zip file, how it gets smaller, if they packed it up(made the file smaller) sent it, then opened it and made the file back to the orignial, it could help the bandwidth, but it could cause lag, does n e one know if they do it

I would say no since there would be more voice lag if that were the case. Since I don't know how they built the network though, don't quote me on that.:watchout:

Voice is transferred over XBL using VOIP - Voice over Internet Protocol. This is streaming, real time voice.

As far as data goes, it's basically streaming...the only thing that XBL would be compressed would be the downloadable content.
